Now here is the twist....Remember when Widmore told Desmond...It wasnt he that hated Desmond..We all assumed it was Penny that hated him, but obviously thats not true...What if it was Ms Hawking (Penny's mom)....Which if you remember told Desmond that he cant marry her because he will break her heart...and she told him he needed to go on the race and go to the island.....(maybe she was the one that really didnt want them together)
