Charlotte was born on the island on July 2nd 1979. She was in the Dharma Initiative until she was warned by Daniel Faraday from the future. She was told that she had to leave the island and NEVER ever come back. Daniel also told her that if she were to come back, that she would die. When she and her mother, Jeanette Lewis, left the island because of Daniel's warning. But for unknown reasons, her mother did NOT want her father, David Lewis, to came with them, and insisted that he stay behind. When she was grown up, she decided to become a "Cultural Anthropologist" in order to try and find the island again and some way return to it. Despite Daniel's warning. This is the reason that when she found one of Dharma's polar bears, she knew that the island had been moved, and she was getting closer to discovering it once again.
Charlotte told Daniel, right before she died, that she remembered the man that warned her as Daniel Faraday. This is how Daniel knew to warn her in the first place. So that when the next "flash" ported them to the early 1980's that he had to warn Charlotte, in order to keep balance in the time-line.
Aside that Ben attempted to kill her, I believe that she is indeed Annie, Ben's childhood friend when he was a kid in the Dharma Initiative. This is because of the following:
She would be the right age.
They both look exactly alike.
They were both in Dharma.
They were both born and raised on the island.
They both know many things about the island.
Annie has not been seen on the island since the early 1980's.
Also, one of the following is correct: Charlotte is Annie; Miles is Pierre Chang's son; or that Locke is the Biological brother of Ben. Theory by Jacob
