When entering/leaving on an incorrect trajectory, the people involved time travel... that's why the helicopter took so long to arrive at the boat because it basically travelled back in time very slightly (a day?)... it's also why the missile fired took so long to arrive at the island.
In the promos, Charlotte can clearly be seen with a nose bleed... and the camp is attacked by some new people...
We also know that Charlotte may have been on the island before... though she doesn't have complete recollection of it (ie. maybe she was a baby - or maybe she wasn't even born yet, such as if she was Annie's daughter...).
So... what if the nose bleeds only happen if a person time travels to somewhere that they already existed in...?
Holes in this theory:-
1. Desmond... although he seemed to be flashing back to the past, we have no definite confirmation that he actually time travelling - though I'm going to suggest that he did. His conscience did, anyway;
2. The "electro magnetic" thing... what does this have to do with it all...!?!
Anyway... I'm 99% sure that the helicopter time travelled...
