Continuing on a theory I just wrote, but may or may not have been posted, we now know a lot about Richard. He wasn't time traveling when he met Locke as a young boy, but he is actually ageless. He's "old" as juliet says and I'd say way older than he looks in '54, but that is a big mystery.
I saw a couple of theories stating that Jughead is the source of the Island's energy. I'm not sure that makes any sense. Firstly I wasn't sold that Jughead was what was behind the concrete wall in the Swan but the more I think about it, the more I realize I can't find anything that would cause that outcome not to make sense. It does make sense. So if Jughead is there, and the power source is in the Orchid, then Jughead couldn't be the source of the power.
Also not all of the mysteries are being solved with time as the explanation. Richard is old, but why? There must be a larger explanation about what causes him to be this way, and why if he is so old and is so connected to the ultimate secrets of the island does he make himself the subordinate of the likes of Ben, etc.
Richard did say they choose their leaders from a young age. Not that Locke has gone back in time it is acceptable to think that at some point Richard will hear the name of Ben, and possibly go and recruit him in much the same way as he sought Locke out as a baby and young man.
One interesting thing about the bomb though that I did see. Radiation is known to cause complications with pregnancy, "sickness", and is used to cure cancer. Sound familiar? Theory by Locke4God
