In previous seasons, the Others were taking survivors who were 'special' and on the list that Jacob gave them. It seems like whoever was taken has now joined the Others (Cindy and the kids).
With the new time-travelling aspect, perhaps the people who were taken, the special ones from the list, perhaps they were taken because they do not feel the effects of the Island moving in time like Sawyer and Locke. Perhaps when the Island moves, they move too, just like the rest of the Others. For this reason, the Others could accept them into their group.
As Faraday said, there are rules about time travel. When Sawyer, Locke etc move in time, they might possibly break one of these rules. They are dangerous. If Cindy and the other people from the list do not move in time like the rest of the others, maybe the Others took them because they would be safe with them and would not cause any problems if the Island were to move in time.
Maybe Jacob knows who would be affected and who wouldnt be, so made the lists. I don't know how he would, but then again, who knows anything about Jacob?
