If someone whose consciousness is toggling between two Time Periods lacks a Constant, that person will suffer a nosebleed that will lead to a fatal aneurism.
A “dead” character in a Smokey Lucid Dream - in a Time Loop of his own (chopping down the same tree over and over) - will also develop a nosebleed, though how fatal can it be for a Dead Guy in a Dream?
The Orchid worker, drilling too close to the FDW “Exotic matter” chamber developed a nosebleed, headache and fell unconscious.
Time Disturbances like those in the vicinity of the Kahana (where Doc Ray’s left cheek scar “unhealed” right before our eyes) - seem to trigger suicidal “Cabin Fever”-type psychoses - Brandon and Regina come to mind.
Before returning to the Island and establishing his Constant, Daniel suffered mentally, not knowing why - presumably because he had a suppressed Future Memory that he hadn’t accessed yet.
So - Charlotte’s nosebleed indicates (to me) not that her consciousness is toggling through Time like Minkowski and Desmond, but that she has a “suppressed memory” of Time Travel - possibly she’s been on the Island before but doesn’t (yet) remember it. I’m hoping that someone (maybe Miles) can help her access those suppressed memories and save her life.
