This theory tries to explain several mysteries surrounding the freighter folk and their backstories.
1. Charlotte was born on the island, who were her parents?
2. Daniel knew about the DI from the notebook, how did he get it?
3. Daniel protects Charlotte from harm in the staff and island move, why?
4. Daniel didn't know why he was emotional at 815's crash on TV, what was this funny feeling all about?
5. Charlotte recognized the hydra collar and Ben said she was born in Essex England, isn't that where Daniel lived in 2004?
6. Charlotte knows Korean, why did she learn it?
Assume the reason Daniel likes Charlotte isn't because she's attractive, but because he cares about her for a reason that he didn't know.
Maybe he doesn't know that he fathered a girl with a DI member when the island moved. He would then protect her from the purge by sending her off the island to his hometown where he would hope to raise her. But something happened and his future self never makes it off the island (swan incident with Dr. Candle?) leaving her to be wrapped in a Dharma blanket in England. She grows up looking for the DI, finds Paik and Widmore, learns Korean, and never discovers the true identity of her parents who lived on the island somewhere between 1976 and 1980.
Daniel knew 815 was fake due to his Eloise project. This explains the card game, the notebook, and how to work the tempest. He pre-visioned his time on the island and it drove him mad, thus needing homecare in England. But as evidenced by the card game, his vision isn't perfect. He can't see that he is Charlotte's father because seeing that would cause him to paradoxically not be her father.
LOST loves having characters' fathers unknowingly reappear in their lives (Claire, Locke, Kate). So this Star Wars/Vader reveal would make sense.
It should make for an interesting episode ending when Charlotte's mother wraps her in a Dharma blanket, and Orchid-vaults her to Essex England.
