Almost everything in science requires at least a small reference to Time. We, as humans, traverse it constantly, trapped and constrained by it. We see life as a beginning, and Death as the end. which has given rise to laws, religions, and philosophies ripe with the fear of the end.
But what if there was a place, a place to go and redeem oneself before being gifted with eternal life?
The Arrow of Time. There is a direction to time, and although you can't change the past(you can influence it), the future is free for change.
There are two concepts of the Arrow, one being the cosmological arrow, which points away from the Big Bang. The there is the second arrow, which is created only when light travels forward in time.
The Arrow is what keeps time in check. When the Island was moved, the people working in the Arrow had to get back to work in determining the possible solutions of fixing these "leaps" in time.
Just a poorly built theory based on my research of time. Not thought out well enough for some.
Mrs. Hawkings is in the Arrow station, because she is probably from the future, and knows rules.
