So not to create a Huge paradox the only way any time over lapping can occur is that The island was created in what is considered from present 2008 to be the future....giving the time travel aspect freedom to go back to any time before that date and also from 2008 go into the future to when the Island was created as a 'restore' proceedure, like that of the computer....thus the only stipulations or laws that would have to be maintained is that no inhabatents (because they are objects) could not go back to any point in time in the space of the Island they had already once occupied...so in other words we would never see two jacks side by side...However, if differant inhabatents exsisted at differant times then travels of either could go between points see and change the outcomes of other times.
(the reason the Island couldn't have originaly exsisted in the past is because it too is an object there for it could not time travel ahead because it would be on top of itself which theorist say is a 'paradox' and goes agianst laws of physics.)
This may contribute to why there are dead amoungst the living and, because this situation may have already have happened or be in the process of happening, that may also explain 'things that are changing' as time goes on.
This also can really play havoc on the history of the Island...we know Charlese Widmore was once leader of the Island...but what if it's chronologicly the future and not the past??? -Perhaps that is what Ben's and John's purposes are ...Richard Albpert had set out to change something...and also this may be why Ben can not go back, because he knows the time the island moved to was a time where he aleady exsisted there, so no two Ben's in one space. Of course what would be more grueling is that John had something to do with the history of the Island before he even knew he did???
Other points of intrest then pop up: things such as "the Purge", "The Incedent", and the back stories of character's like members of the D.I and Danielle Rouseau's! We know how many years took place while these things have happened, but with this new concept it might just prove to be not the dates that we think. -Also because the Island was created in the future this may be how Ben and 'The Others' are able to quickly access files on any new inhabitants -assuming they can get info from the future!
My best guess at the moment is that Richard Alpbert and original gang where from the future and went back into the past to change something that is reaping havoc in the future, maybe even something to do with Charles Widmore...But at some point the DI where able to gian access to the Island and interferred with Alpbert's Mission...so on at least a few occations the Island's settings had been 'restored' to the original settings and they keep going in time to try and make cetian things happen...maybe even so far as to 'create' flight 815 -perhaps somehow already knowing the people involved needed to make the changes?? -Obviously many things are changing...from aging of dharma stations to materials of picture frames!
Then we have to add this to other compiling stories...to how are the oceanic 6 to get back? -How could John travel to the future? -Can John be saved? How will Walt play into this? -Is anyone else we know from the future (Libby? Mrs. Hawkings? Charlotte?) How will this effect Penny and Desmond? Since the Island is like a computer can it get viruses?, What happens if someone from the future comes to the past, gets off the island and chooses to stay there (given it is before the time of the person't birth) Is this why babies can NOT be concieved because of some kind of 'physical' law? Is the Island distorted because of all of the time traveling?? What happened to Claire? -and Jacob...the computer head or an unwanted acciden/virus/anitvirus?? -Smoke monster disigned to keep certian order (anitvirus)?? And if the Island breaks down (lol to the dharma pun) then can the inhibatints permanatly get stuck there??
To me this is why season five will be harder to decifer past, present, future! -Becuase it will be to whom and for what!
