When the producers said the show will all end up somewhere outside the Crab Nebula, I thought it did not make any sense. But then I thought of the Dharma Initiative and the Apollo bars and it struck me!
It was all confirmed when I saw an interview of Jorge Garcia at the Emmy 2008 saying that where the island moved to was just crazy!
And indeed it is crazy, and so might sound my theory, but when you read it I want you all to keep in mind the Apollo bars!!
Well, we all have been wondering so far where the island has moved to. Some blogs have hinted that the island would return to the time when the DI was on the island. But when exactly is that time and where is the island?
My guess is that the island moved to space and is already somewhere outside the Crab Nebula!!!!!
And yes that would mean indeed that the island was in space when the Dharma Initiative discovered it.
And that is where the Apollo Bars come into play.
The Apollo bars have always suggested that The Dharma Initiative was some sort of space mission. The same for the food which was regularly dropped on the island.
Now if you look carefully at all the Dharma Initiative suits, they look like astronaut’s suits. Even the DI stations look like space ones, and more particularly the Swan station, which was burried underground. Now could it be that some of them were actually spaceships or parts of it?
Because when you think of it, what would be the purpose of building such bunkers/stations on the island, unless there was a threat of a nuclear war or something alike??? But no, such stations were built to resist to atmospheric pressure, just like the ones you would build on the Moon or on Mars.
I believe that initially, the DI had no idea that they could breathe and live normally on the island and had to take all the above measures. They probably first lived in the stations and used the suits to go out and explore the island (that would explain why Rousseau never met them). The computers were used to travel in space and later to communicate with Earth and with the other stations.
Later on, when they fully realized that the island/the planet had very similar properties to the Earth’s, they started living in normal houses and only used the stations for experiments.
We all assumed that the Dharma Initiative existed in the past, but what if they discovered the island in the future? When the Valenzetti equation was discovered, the Earth was on the verge of extinction and could well have disappeared while the DI was on the island somewhere in space. They were a few first arriving on the island, living in the stations/spaceships. Then they discovered time travel (through wormholes??) and started recruiting people from the past and started working on a way to save the earth. Which would mean that everything which we have been seeing so far on Lost is staged in the past (except DI’s events which exist in the future).
They have used people, like Libby, Mrs Hawkings, and even Ben to correct events in the past.
One big question is where was the island when the 815 crashed?
Well, on their first nights on the island, one of the losties mentioned that the stars/constellations were different. What is more the food supply kept on being dropped, so I tend to believe that the island was still in space when the losties crashed on it.
And that is where the wormhole theory comes in handy. The Swan station which was involved in time travel probably used the reset button to control a wormhole as suggested by Scott Gingold.
The island actually moved to Earth when Desmond turned the failsafe key. We saw then the same light as when Ben turned the Donkey Wheel.
So what do the donkey wheel and the Swan Station have in common? A black hole!!
When the failsafe was activated, we saw that a huge force was attracting people and objects. While some thought it was electromagnetism, I will argue that the rotation of the (primordial) black hole was dragging everything within its ergosphere.
Now was this black hole created by Dharma or part of the one used with the Donkey Wheel is another matter, which for the present time I have no answer.
Desmond was dragged then and traveled through a wormhole to his past.
That would explain how Penelope’s men were able to detect the island at that very moment.
Another clue is Ben’s obsession with conception on the island and the children being kidnapped. It would all make sense if they all lived in a planet/ the island while the Earth had long been gone, and their civilisation was doomed to die as women could not conceive. The only way to preserve it was to recruit new people in the past, luring them onto the island and taking the children of whom might happen to crash on the island through wormholes.
It would also explain how Ben knows everything about Losties and knows already what will happen on Earth.
Now we could theorize about Widmore and Christian being part of the DI and being sick of the life on the island and deciding to travel in the past and trying to live normal lives. Maybe other DI people did the same: Aaron’s father, John Locke’s, Charlie’s etc…. That would explain why they are all so enigmatic.
Well, my theory is a bit rough as I wrote it this morning and had not much time to get more clues. But I am sure if I rewatch the previous seasons I will find some. So I should come back with updates.
Please let me know what you think of my theory.
