Here's the theory:
Everyone wants to know what happened to the Island when it disappeared? Well, in order to know that, we have to understand who was left on the Island when the O6 witnessed its “disappearance.”
The most main of the characters that we are aware of that are still on the Island are Locke, Richard, Sawyer, Juliette and that’s all I’m going to bother naming b/c there’s no point in naming the rest…they aren’t part of my theory…neither is Sawyer OR Juliette…right.
Here it is, folks…I think I’ve got it. The Island is an instrument of temperal loop shifting. It keeps going back and forward to two(2) periods in history…Locke’s childhood, briefly, and from Ben’s arrival to his eventual departure from the Island, when he makes it disappear. The only constant between these two points in time is the variable, Richard. Let me explain:
At the point in time when Ben hands over “Leadership” to Locke, Ben makes the Island go away. The Island goes back in time, and Locke figures this out…he also figures out what time the Island shifted back to and gets Richard to find Kid Locke and bring him to the Island in an effort to “correct” the equation that has just been put in effect.(The equation is referenced to the theory as a whole in that the Island is an instrument of temperal loop shifting.) It doesn’t work, because “You can’t change the future” is in effect. But what does happen, is Kid Locke has been given the interest of knives, which will eventually lead him to become a survivalist and bring him to the Island.
Tracking back now…bear with me. We are back to when the Island just jumped back in time and Locke is Leader of the Others. Locke knows that eventually Ben is going to show up on the Island, and he has to get Ben ready for his job…Leader. Locke then assumes the role of Jacob, and sends Richard to find Ben. This does work, and Ben takes a liking to Jacob(Locke) who then prepares Ben for the events to follow, where WE, as the viewing audience, pick up from the beginning of the series. Ben knew about the crash, b/c Jacob(Locke)told him when and where it was going to happen, as well as everything else…which is why Ben is such a knowledgable character in the series. So Ben knows what to do and eventually finds “Crash Locke” and is told by “Jacob Locke” to “prepare” “Crash Locke” for his role as the leader of the Island/Others. “Jacob Locke” then leaves the Island somewhere in between, and assumes the role of Jeremy Bentham, where he lives out the rest of ! his days, or dies in a horrible, pointy pit of death…stateside. Point is, Locke, Richard, and Ben are all key players in the perpetuation of the “Loop” that the Island suffers. And the reason the O6 need to go back to the Island is it will unbalance the equation.
Upon immediate review of my own theory above, which I have not altered in any way whatsoever, I realized that I may not have explained it in the best way. I will provide a link to a YouTube video of myself explaining it in the best way I know how….orally, and with a diagram assist….date TBD, but in the very VERY near future…hopefully by this weekend.
