There has been plenty of speculation about when and where the island has moved to. Some have suggested that the island has moved back to the time of the DI first coming to the island. With some of the filming updates posted here on darkufo im not so sure. There has been talk of the producers getting a ship, possibly for a back story on the black rock. Then there has been talk of a back story on Danielle and her team. How can all of this fit into a time frame when the events are so far apart. The key to this, in my opinion anyway, lies with the turning of the failsafe key by Desmond in LTDA, the rocket payload test carried out by Faraday and the body of Dr Ray.
When Daniel did his test with the rocket and the watches we find that there was a difference of 31 minutes bewteen when the payload arrives and when it should have arrived. The payload arrived late indicating that the island at that moment in time as 31 minutes behind of where the rocket took off from.
Next the body of Dr Ray turns up on the beach approximately three days before we see him killed by Keamy on the Kahana.
What does this tell us?
That the shift in island time to real time has changed between these two events.
What if the incident as mentioned by Wickman/Candle/Haliwax was something that caused the wormhole around the island to become unstable and cause the island to jump around and/or dirft in time? We have all by now seen the video of Chang talking about wormholes and the incident.
What if the primary function of the Swan after the incident was to provide an anchor for the island to keep it stationary in time?
what would happen if this "anchor" were to be destroyed?
The island would once again drift through time.
So, what does all of this mean?
Well, the way I see it the island has moved to a time prior to the arrival of the black rock and we will see its arrival, the arrival/formation of the DI, Danielle and her team coming to the island and the purge all in what appears to be a very short period of time on the island but in the real world this will be a very long period of time.
This would fit with what stories we are expecting to see in season 5 as well as the comment made by Darlton about season 5 being confusing in that we wont be sure as to where we are in the timeline of Lost.
