I've been thinking about Lee el camael's question: " what could these bad things be that happened because jack left the island? why is it jacks fault?". If you recall, Jack says John contacted him and told him "bad things" happened after he left the island. Lee suggests that Jack and Jacob are both Jack, but from different times.
I was wondering, what if, when Ben moved the island, Jack was twinned, like rabbit number 15 in the original Orchid video? Oceanic Six Jack did indeed leave the island, but his twin, Shadow Jack moved with the island.
If you look closely at the scene where the island moves the second time, the camera is focused on Jack's face, as the light gets brighter, then it's a quite long fade to compete white. Then we return to Jack's face in the helicopter and he looks disoriented. I think the fade to white is a visual shorthand for "spacetravel, timetravel/twinning."
I suggest this, because the fade to white is very rarely used in Lost. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the only times we've seen fade to white are when Desmond turned the failsafe key, and briefly when Ben turned the donkey wheel.
So I think something happened to Jack during that fade to white. If you recall, the earlier seasons were rife with references to twins and twinning, but we've been lead away from this line of thinking in season 4. Perhaps the reason why the past or future "bad things" on the island are "Jack's fault" is because Jack is both back on the island AND in California. When the island moved, he was split into Oceanic 6 Jack and Shadow Jack.
The obvious questions are why were none of the other 'copterites twinned? Did the newly-minted Jack just drop from the sky where the helecopted had been? I have a feeling that the opening scene of Series 5 will be a man plunging into the ocean, we assume it's Sawyer, but when he surfaces -- it's Jack. I think we'll be asked to suspend disbelief, and accept that he was on the border of the bubble and the others in the helecopter were not. I think he was sitting behind Lepidus -- maybe Lepidus was twinned too (likely not). Because he was on the border, Jack was simultaneously pulled toward the island and cut away from it.
This could explain how the "bad things" are "Jack's fault." Perhaps Shadow Jack made some poor choices on the post-donkeywheel island. Maybe he was taken over to the dark side by Christian, like Claire was. An evil alliance between the Shepherds could explain, as was suggested before, why (ghost? dream?) Claire tells Kate "Don't bring him back." She is referring to Oceanic Six Jack. Claire doesn't want Oceanic Six Jack back because if Oceanic Six Jack meets Shadow Jack, who knows what will happen, but the Orchid video suggests it is dangerous for all involved.
As for Lee's (and others') theory of Jack being Jacob, if the post-donkeywheel island went back in time to Dharma Daze, when Ben was a child, then Shadow Jack could have aged enough to be Jacob. Perhaps in season five, we see how Shadow Jack becomes Jacob.
Maybe the final season will be a game of keep-away. Keep Oceanic Six Jack away from Shadow Jack. One group will want to keep them apart (Hanso, Christian Shepherd, Claire) and the other group will want to force them back together (Brother Campbell, Mrs. Hawking). I suspect the reason the Shepherds, including Shadow Jack/Jacob, want the timeline to stay split is so they can dominate the island and use it for profit and personal gain. Brother Campbell, Mrs. Hawking and eventually Oceanic Six Jack want to course-correct and to re-unite the timelines, even if it means that Jack is destroyed in the process.
I predict the end will be similar to what others have predicted, an individual sacrifice will be made for the good of the group and of humanity. Once Oceanic Six Jack realizes he needs to ensure mutual annihilation with Shadow Jack to save the rest of the losties and perhaps the planet, the rest of the last season will be a cat-and-mouse of him trying to catch Shadow Jack. We'll be both rooting for him to die and also sad to see him go -- very bittersweet. Maybe the last shot of the show will be the reverse of the first shot. We see Jack in the jungle, gasping, except this time he is mortally injured, but we know he is no longer divided, the timelines unified and the world is saved. The camera zooms into his eye, we see the pupil dilate, Jack's eye closes for the last time.
I sincerely hope I'm wrong since I don't like being spoiled, but like all of you, I can't stop speculating! I'm sorry if it upset any of you. If you think there's some merit to my idea, please vote for my post. Thank you for your time.
