Hello again. Many fans of Lost think that only our favourite chinese ghost hunter Miles have some special abilities to talk with ghosts, but I disagree with this - this theory is about ghsot-hunting abilities in some other characters. Let's begin.
I rewatched season 4 recently and noticed that scenes where Hurley talks with Charley, Locke is asking questions to mr. Goodspeed and Miles talking with ghost are very similar to each other. Every character talks to people, who died some time ago, every character (except Hurley) understand that they are talking with ghost. And we can see some special things here and there: Charlie beating Hurley and this boy, who gives Miles "key" to money. This is a key to my theory too. Both Charlie and this boy are ghosts of the same type and only people from Island can see them.
So, let me explain the whole story. Miles is a child from Chang, so he was on Island. I think that Island is definetely some sort of portal to ghost world - because every human, who was there, can see dead people. Jack saw his dead father, Locke saw Horace, Hurley saw Charlie and etc. Miles can only sense ghosts, but not see them - because he wasn't on Island for a very long time. And this is interesting. Also, it explains why people (or animals) who move the Island are teleported to a Sahara desert - this is well connected to a theme of "taken life" . In ghosts we can see people, who's lives were taken away by Island (remember Boone? "I was the prey that Island wanted" or something like that), and in desert we can see...life of nature, which was taken away by humans.
We can ask a very interesting question here: why Island needs human lives? Also, I think that all events like purge etc were originally initiated by Jacob - just because Island needs lives. By the way, it is a key to Jacob's personality. He is some sort of mediator between Island and real life, negotiator that tells Island's will to others. And I think that there is a cycle here - every leader of Others will be mediator in the end of his path. That explains why Others are ageless - Island needs them as negotiators. So, Jacob was their last leader and he became one. I think that Locke is mediator now - just because he died and his soul belongs to Island now.
Good luck in revealing Lost mysteries!
