Hi everyone. I'm almost always lurking, and rarely post, but yesterday's comic-con video made me think of some things I haven't seen discussed on the boards yet.
Idea 1: Maybe Chang and perhaps other DI, upon finding out about the unavoidable purge, desperately wanted to get their children off the island. Charlotte was one. Maybe Chang's baby was another (I like the Miles theory). I'm only jokingly suggesting they bundled their kids up and strapped them on to the backs of polar bears who turned the wheel. But certainly one of the prior "incidents" could have been an attempt to locale or time shift the children(except baby Charlotte might have been banned, or maybe they were just set adrift on a boat at the correct bearing.
Idea 2: Charlotte and Daniel went to the island to find Ben and destroy the gas-making facility. One possiblity presented by the comic-con video was that they were trying to disarm Ben from purging a reconstituted DI that might come to the island to continue the original DI's work. (Couldn't Abaddon's team themselves be the reconstitued DI?) But is it also possible that Daniel and Charlotte knew the island might be sent back to pre-purge days and that maybe the "disarming" might save the original DI from being purged? I realize that the second possibility runs afoul of what the writers have said is impossible about changing the past/future, but it's a thought.
Corollary idea on why Daniel was crying: If the DI were trying to save humanity (Valenzetti), either Chang's contingent or a future DI would have to survive to do that. Maybe when that is assured, the 815ers roles are complete, course correction happens and the version of reality that ends up with 815 in the trench plays out -- leading Daniel to his bittersweet memories.
