Firstly, I love lost but am not into the whole internet thing about it too much. I have had this theory for a while but a lot of things in my theory made a lot more sense after the finale. I have looked through a few theories on sites and couldn't find one like mine, so if there is one, I apologise as I am not meaning to plagarise!
Ok, the first thing to come to light since the finale is that the island may have not just moved location, but maybe also time too - as has been hinted by the likes of Kirsten.
In the orchid orientation video, with the rabbits, we see Halowax, candle, whoever he is, freak out when the other rabbit is there. Now, we know there are no clones, but in popular culture, you NEVER meet yourself through time travel, as this could have dire effects.
Think about it for a second. Dead people keep coming back to life. Or are they just not dead when they are seen? The whispers also give me this reasoning. They can't 'see themselves' but maybe they can 'influence' what they themselves do. Maybe the version we have seen of the crash is not what originally happened when it crashed. Perhaps this has been changed. The 'others' now seem to be good people. If they are good people why did they steal people and kill people, at the start? Perhaps what originally happened after the crash was so terrible that the evils that the 'others' commit are actually truly good, in hindsight. Perhaps the people who moved with the island are actually the others when the plane crashes in season 1. If this is a paradox that keeps repeating itself until it is right, it doesn't really matter what atrocities were committed by Ben & company if they get other chances to make it right. Ben could be stuck in a groundhog kinda day.
For example, if the island has now gone back in time before the crash, the survivors can't see each other, but would know what they are doing because they have already done it. It would be easy to hide from your past self as you would know exactly what you did. I hope I am making sense.
The other part of my theory that I am not sure about is that Matthew Abaddon is the future Walt. The producers always said Walt's growing was part of the script....
I am still thinking whether the future Aaron is Richard Alpert though...
