Here is my theory.....
After watching Thursday's episode there is no doubt in my mine that I am correct. There were three clues in the episode. I believe every died in the plane crash. The show has been about their bodies fighting death. Those that accept they are dead "leave the island".
The Oceanic Six are fighting death. When they survived the chopper crash, Jack said "It's OK we're alive". They fought death again.
Claire specifically said to Kate during the flash forward "Do not BRING him back." Not do not TAKE him back, like would be normal to say. She meant let him die. Don't bring him back to life.
Before the bomb went off, Christian told Michael "You can go now." Which means he can let go and die. He doesn't have to fight anymore.
THe O6 all have a reason to keep fighting. Sayid has Nadia. Hurley his parents. Kate now Aaron. Jack has Kate.
Everything thing they are experiencing on the island is their minds "bringing" those things there. The people that have come to the island either have died also and are fighting it or some has brought them there.
Watch the movie "Jacob's Ladder" with Tim Robbins from 1991. He was stabbed in Vietnam at the beginning of the movie. THe entire movie he was "imagining" people were trying to kill him and stalk him. When he "brought" someone else to his "dream" that person gave him another thing to imagine about. There were many different crazy scenes. At the end he saw his dead son going up "Jacobs' Ladder". He then realized it was time to die and gave up the fight.
Sounds just like LOST to me.
