I was watching the season finale (parts 2 and 3) again over the weekend, and took special note of something that I completely missed during the first viewing. I am not sure If this subject has been covered anywhere here, so apologies if this is old news.
When Locke was watching the video, just before the video came to an end and started rewinding, the last words Marvin Candle/Halliwax was saying was about moving the bunny in time, 100 milliseconds into the future. He then said "The subject will appear to disappear, but in reality... (video stops and begins rewinding).
But in reality...WHAT???!!!!
I am sure that this exact wording and phrasing was not stated by accident. Think about the sentence structure of this particular phrase for a moment. If you ever say that anything APPEARS as something, BUT IN REALITY always has to mean that the appearance of what you are seeing is deceiving.
This tells me a couple of things. First, I do not believe the island physically moved, but only APPEARED to disappear to those returning on the helicopter, perhaps because they were not on the island but in the air during the "purple sky" event. BUT IN REALITY, perhaps the HELICOPTER moved forward in time, completely overshooting the island so that it only appeared to have vanished and/or physically moved.
Even though the bunny experiment described on the orientation video was only going to last "100 milliseconds", that would appear to be far too short of a span of time for the human eye to notice ANYTHING, yet alone a vanishing rabbit. Therefore, there must be something about the PROCESS that would make the rabbit appear to vanish, and not necessarily the length of time.
Unfortunately, we will likely have to wait until next season to get any of these answers, especially the words immediately following "BUT IN REALITY..."
Hats off to the writers of this series. They are VERY, VERY, VERY good.
Secondly, if you remember the Orchid Time Traveling Bunny Video from last summer, Dr Candle "freaked out" when both the original #15 bunny he was holding was in the same room as the exact same #15 bunny from a different time line. Many people thought it was a cloning experiment at first, but it was clearly regarding time and/or dimensional travel. Listen carefully to his wording when the experiment puts both bunnies in the same place.
That MIGHT be the reason all of the Oceanic 6 MUST return to the island (including Locke). If the O6 meet up with other versions on themselves, a rift in time or realities COULD occur. Getting them all back to the island could be the ONLY place that they can ensure that this event could never happen.
Your thoughts?
