Dharma is still around, off-island, and is working to get back. Ms. Hawking (the white-haired lady from the jewelry store in Desmond's flashback last season) was a former Swan worker and developed the same ability Desmond has. Ms. Hawking accidentally got this ability during the original "incident" that is mentioned during the orientation film for the Swan. She survived by finding her constant - Brother Campbell (the monk who kick Des out of the monastery)- and left the island. After leaving the island, her visions developed, and she has seen what needs to take place in order for Dharma to regain control of the island. Her visions include a complicated pattern of people that are required to be on the island in order for a set series of events to occur for Dharma to return to the island. With the help of others, including Christian Shephard, Claire's psychic, Libby and Matthew Abbadon, the group makes sure that specific people are on the plane i! n order for the series of events to occur. Christian must go to Australia for Jack to get him, Abbadon tell Locke to go on the walk-about, Libby give Des the boat to reach the island and cause Flight 815 to crash; Locke must locate the hatch. Desmond must turn the fail-safe key so Dharma gets a location. Desmond must influence Charlie to turn off the jamming device. Jack calls the freighter.
Also, I originally thought there were 3 groups. Dharma, Widmore and the Others. After last night, I think Widmore and Dharma are the same. The "secondary protocol" that Keamy looked at had a big Dharma logo on it.
