My theory is simply that the island is a sentient being's consciousness. Events that occur on the island, are not happening in real life and real time. Somehow, everyone on the island is trapped in this consciousness to play out this scenario. The way you get to this consciousness, is by being exposed to Electro Magnetic (EM) radiation, like in Faraday's experiments.
I haven't quite decided what the endgame is yet, but I have some ideas.
The Black Rock is a reference to Charles Widmore's ship. I believe he was involved in the mining industry, amongst other things. He employed slaves. His treatment of Desmond would leave me to believe he is the type to employ slaves. I believe that "black rock" is a reference to Magnetite, which is the most magnetic rock found in nature. I believe that Widmore and possibly some of his slaves, were exposed to a large formation of Magnetite during a mining operation which transported their consciousnesses to "the island". The dynamite on the ship points to the mining. I will give more on this when I get some feedback.
I believe when Ben left the island and popped up in the Sahara, he left this altered state of consciousness. Part of being in the altered state of consciousness for long periods of time involves being almost frozen, like cryogenics or suspended animation. The last thing Ben did before he entered the altered state of consciousness needed to reach the island, was drink a glass of OJ. That's why when he woke up, he puked up what his body had not yet digested, due to his suspended (frozen)state.
I have lots more of this, I just haven't put it all together yet. I welcome your comments.
