People have mentioned before that the big clue in the pilot episode of Lost is Jack's eye. When someone opens their eyes the pupil will shrink, having gone from a period of darkness into light. However when Jack opens his eyes, his pupil gets larger. My theory takes this one step further.
The producers have said that Jack was originally supposed to die in the pilot episode. Also when questioned about Claire's death they have said that we should not be asking the question of is Claire dead, but rather "What is dead?" Going with both of these statements, I believe that Jack did technically die in the plane crash and that this Jack is really Jack from a different time or a different dimension. Or another option could be that because the crash and his death happened on the island, maybe he did not die the same way we think of death in the real world but maybe he was manifested again. I know that many people have theorized that death may occur in this way on the island and could be somewhat different from death off the island.
In the Lost Mobisode "So It Begins," Christian Shephard tells Vincent to wake up Jack because he has work to do. Jack is quite a distance from the crash site and it doesn't seem likely that he was thrown that far without being killed from the fall or from hitting the tree branches. It is almost like Jack was put there or Jack appeared there from somewhere else or some other time. The way that his pupils dilate the opposite way, it is almost as if he is coming back, mentally, from some other place. That he was in a place of enlightenment in a way and now it is dark again and he has to start all over. For those who have seen it, it is similar to the movie Run Lola Run, in which the characters die, only to start again and have another chance. The way he holds the liquor bottle, it seems he is reminding himself what time he is supposed to be in. Also the way he runs with such a mission to the beach, it's almost as if he knows or has an instinct as to what is going to occur! . His tattoo that says, "He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us," makes sense with this theory. He isn't one of the survivors but walks amongst them, almost as a living dead, who most likely isn't even aware of it. Perhaps the reason Hurley tells Jack he isn't supposed to raise Aaron is because Jack is technically not alive, in the same way Claire is not able to raise Aaron because she is not exactly alive. Thoughts??
