What do you think of this? It's a further evolution of a theory I posted on another board last summer. Here's a link:

Now for my addition:
"There will be the upheavals in the Arctic and in the Antarctic that will make for the eruption of volcanoes
in the Torrid areas, and there will be shifting then of the poles..." - Edgar Cayce, January 19, 1934

Ben told Widmore "You'll never find it (the island)." Why? Because it is now part of Antartica! Hidden from view and verification by the "bubble" (magnetic properties caused by the volcano and electromagnetic activity that caused its' creation)".
Penny's men in Antartica (were they wearing the same parka [Dharka?]) were trying to find the location and were finally able to after Desmond turned the key. They notified Penny who started trying to establish electronic communication with the area (TTLG) in order to pinpoint the exact location of the island and rescue Desmond, the love of her life.
After Penny's Christmas Eve talk with Desmond, she dispatches another boat to the area to rescue the plane's survivors. This will happen in the final episode of this season.
Note: We know the O6 are sworn to secrecy once they return to the world. Why? Because Penny told them keep quiet otherwise her father would find the island! Why the Oceanic 6? Because the island won't let them die! The remainder of the Losties stayed on the island because their departure will alter the time line, especially Locke and Rose.
Widmore has mercenaries travelling the world...not to kill the O6 but to kill their loved ones in order to get the information he needs (Where is the island?). He's already had Nadia killed. Kate's protective of Aaron. Jack and Hurley are losing their minds...worrying about their loved ones. After Nadia is killed, Sayid joins Ben in his efforts to stop Widmore's mercenaries. But not just for the reason Ben thinks (Nadia's revenge), but to keep the location of the island secret. Sayid, you see, is really working for Penny!
Why Penny? Because years ago her father teamed up with Mr. Paik (Sun's father) to populate the island prior to the events predicted by Cayce in 1934, resulting in the original Dharma team, in order to harness the island's properties through various stations on the island. Most important of which was the Orchid Station, home of their real mission...time travel...just think of the financial advantage to being able to travel back and forth in time!
Yet Ben, son of a loser recruited by Widmore and Dharma, killed all the Dharma people after his love (Annie) died after giving birth to their daughter. Alex...resulting in the "Purge". And cut Widmore off from all communication with the island as it shifted around within the Pacific but most of all within the time line, heading towards it's current location in or adjacent to Antartica - somewhere in the future.
Which brings us to the current situation. Widmore "broke the rules" by killing Ben's daughter. Ben is now also going after Penny, Widmore's daughter. But, as Widmore said, he "won't find her". Why? Because he (Widmore) can't find her either! She's somewhere in Antartica preparing a rescue!
What's next? After a two year battle, Ben defeats Widmore. Only to be killed by Jack, allowing everyone to return to the island.
Oh. Adam and Eve, lying in the cave. That's Desmond and Penny. Sometime in the future.
