We begin when it all began… Thousands of years ago… with a culture and society know as the Rama Empire. From what I have read it was like the Atlantis of India. They were advanced beyond any other civilization. In order to protect not only their society but also their knowledge they chose to hide it secretly and what better way than to allow the world around you to digress to the point of humble begins or what we know to be modern India. We know the world is ever changing. It is constantly evolving. New islands and countries are forming daily while others are sifting away into the sea like California on the coast of the United States. So it was with India and their Culture and Country. Volcanic plates shifted and caused the land to separate and divide into what we now know to be Sri Lanka and such. The Rama Empire used this as a way to keep their secrets and knowledge. We introduce a group known as the “Nine Unknown Men”. Supposedly the! y actually find their start from the Rama Empire. The are a group of modern Humanitarians who have within their possession 9 books, each with its own category of expertise.
1. Propaganda and Psychological warfare. (Sounds like something Ben might have.)
2. Physiology, including instructions on how to perform the "touch of death." One account has Judo being a product of material leaked from this book.( Posibbly taught on the island… How did Juliette get all those sweet moves)
3. Microbiology, and, according to more recent speculation, Biotechnology. In some versions of the myth, the waters of the Ganges are purified with special microbes designed by the Nine and released into the river at a secret base in the Himalayas.(Sure sounds like it could be what was being preformed or looked into in the Hydra Station)
4. Alchemy, including the transmutation of metals. In India, there is a persistent rumor that during times of drought or other natural disasters temples and religious organizations receive large quantities of gold from an unknown source. The mystery is further deepened with the fact that the sheer quantity of gold throughout the country in temples and with kings cannot be properly accounted for, seeing that India has few gold mines.(Is it not funny that Alvar Hanso in his talk about the Dharma Initiative mentions they have unlimited resources… Including Financially)
5. Communication, including communication with extraterrestrials. (This will come in later.. But think about the communications tower.)
6. Gravitation. Book 6 The Vaiminaka sastra is said to contain the instructions necessary to build a Vimana, sometimes referred to as the "ancient UFOs of India." (Didn’t Ben say they were building a landing strip… and when asked why Juliette made light of the comment “For the Aliens”)
7. Cosmology, the capacity to travel at enormous speeds through spacetime fabric, and time-travel; including intra- and inter-universal trips.(Wow the missle capsule launched from the boat sure took a long time to get to Daniel Faraday)
8. Light, the capacity to increase and decrease the speed of light, to use it as a weapon by concentrating it in a certain direction etc (Remember the strange remark from Daniel Faraday about how the light scatters weird on the island.)
9. Sociology, including rules concerning the evolution of societies and how to predict their downfall (Come on if this one isn’t obvious by now then you don’t know the rules of “The Others”)
These books have been handed down through the life of those who founded the “Nine Unknown Men”…The island is a perfect place to highlight and to learn more about these 9 subjects. It had been used since the beginning. Thus the four toed statue was probably the original inhabitants of the island who worshiped Indian Idols. It was probably a complete statue but as the tectonic plates shifted below India and these islands broke off so did the statue and the whole thing crumbled, leaving the foot on the Island. There are other evidences left on the island leading to the Rama Empire and that era. The large stone pillar that the others tied Locke’s Father to and told him to kill him have a strange resemblance to the Iron Pillar of Delhi. I’m not going to lie I have seen a few things that have led me to believe their might be a “Alien Aspect” but perhaps not at the same time. If my Rama Theory floats then you would have to look into ancient writings by the people of that time. Many of them show pictures of things like airplanes and helicopters even though they were not invented at that time. This could introduce the time travel of Airplanes and Ships from the future going back in time to those inhabitants or Aliens coming to the Earth within sight of these people.
If it does there are more connections, such as, the Dharma Initiative could it be because we know Dharma stands for “the one true way”, but could it also stand for the Dharmatic Wheel or Crop Circles.
Which have a strange resemblance to the map on the back of the blast door… and represented by Nine Circles? The nine different books and properties contained in them?
Now what does all this really have to do with LOST… Sorry it has taken this long to get down to it.
The Nine now encompass such names as Alvar Hanso, Mr. Paik, Charles Widmore, Daniel Faraday?(This one is a maybe, but could be more)
The Time Interval of the island is due to a Casmir Effect caused by the original inhabitants. It was a concept I am sure was within the pages of the book possibly not called that by them, but when the man who developed the Casmir effect was a member of the nine he used the secrets to gain enough wealth and recognition to continue its study.
If you have ever gone and looked into a few of the names given to us by the writers of people within the Revolution of France, the Progress of Religion, and the Advancement of Science you might start to see that perhaps these individuals were once member of the Nine Unknown Men. Enzo Valenzetti supposedly died in a plane crash but was never found. Was it because he spent the remainder of his days trying to find a way to save the world from his own equation that formulated the end of the world. Is that not what the whole thing is about... saving the world from itself?
We know this is what the point of the Dharma Initiative was… to find a way through science or nature to change the core values of the numbers of the Valenzetti Equation to stop the world from ending itself. Thus the Dharma Initiative was born.
We know that Widmore knows about the island. In fact he may have known about it for a long time. There was something said within Alvar Hanso’s speech found on Youtube. He said that the radio tower had been constructed and it worked on a frequency known only to Alvar and a few of his highest ranking officials… The Other Nine Unknown Men? We know they used the frequency of the island to contact the freighter. How could the freighter have the frequency unless they knew it? Unless this is a flaw by the writers.
Have you gone to www.thehansofoundation.org and right clicked on it and heard the voice clip if you press play? It talks about how someone has one a battle, but Alvar is a humanitarian and has a virus perhaps and will win the war. Could the battle they lost be the Dharma Initiative being whipped out by the Purge?
Perhaps the truth is that men are greedy and want to posses all knowledge. Maybe Hanso, Widmore, and Paik and whom ever owns Oceanic Air have killed off the other member of the Nine and now are trying to do it all themselves.
In the scheme of things they have to continue trying to change the core values and save the world. Perhaps our man “Jacob” who I believe is “Jacob Dyer from the Black Rock Manifest found on Widmore’s website was a member of the “Nine” and he cause the ship to come to the island. He might have been in charge of a few of the books or have been helping the individual who was. He brought slaves to the island as part of the social experiment. At the time slaves were thought by a large portion of the world to be less evolved. Thus they could begin fresh with trying to socialize them. It is kind of the reverse concept of what they were doing with Polar Bears. Polar bears are the Einstein of the bear community. They had tried to de-evolve them and change them by their position in nature… trying to change the core values of life naturally.
Jacob had already killed of one entire civilization trying to figure out his experiment (the Leftovers of the Rama Empire on the island). This is why the islanders view Jacob and important to God. “Good Loves you as he Loved Jacob.” Jacob was the start of society accordingly. I think that Jacob was recruited by someone doing time travel experiment to help him out and possibly find an answer to a social question he was having. It was perhaps Michael Faraday. Anyway the experiment went completely wrong and backfired on him. Perhaps even on purpose to get Jacob out of the picture. It backfired on those who planned it; Jacob became more “Powerful” due to the fact that he was stuck in time. This worked to his advantage for awhile. He was then trapped inside of the cabin which I still believe is a primitive version of a Faraday Cage, built out of the pieces of the Black Rock.
This explains a little about why when Locke turned on the flashlight inside the cabin Jacob got a little bit of “Power” because their was a energy source running currents through the flashlight batteries.
This is years prior to the Dharma Initiative, but now we have the Dharma initiative running the island. They have knowledge of the inhabitants of the Black Rock on the island, but each is given its own area to study in. Dharma is backed by the UN council, so this will explain a little as to why we keep seeing military people pop up on the island. Radzenski I think was the name of the guy in the hatch with Desmond and we know he was military working with Kate’s non biological father. Patchy on the island, was some sort of communications expert or at least that is what it seemed. (On a side note, does anybody else think that the eye ball they found in the container with the bible that contained the missing pieces of the orientation video might have belonged to him?)
The UN isn’t going to allow all these experiment to go on without them having some sort of presence there.
The Dharma initiative introduced new technology to the island and new means of manipulating the numbers and energies of the island. All in hopes of finding an answer to saving the world. The Dharma Initiative failed to bring about the answers needed and was halted by Hanso, but not by other such as Widmore. That is why there were still the scheduled drops of food to the island.
Ben now has a few of the books including the one on society I believe. This is how he is so good at manipulating and knowing how people are going to act with each other. Jacob had become like a mentor to him, but eventually he wanted all the knowledge to himself just like his predecessors before him. Ben thinks he is a good guy, trying to save the world. He knows that Alvar Hanso has a virus that could destroy and kill everyone on the island, but also all of humanity. So, been using the help of Jacob creates a list of the remaining members of the Unknown Nine and they are the list that Sayid is killing. “The Economist” had many meanings, but one could be a direct link to the man Sayid killed and why he had to get to the woman’s boss.
Ben wants all the books and all of them killed so he can save the world himself. He wants all the glory.
But Widmore wants to reestablish the primary plan and start the Dharma Initiative over and find glory for the world through the minds of all men.
Now I hate to back track, but I better because there are a few clues that I have missed saying. I think a strong foreshadowing of things to come and where the writers are coming from is found within the list of names from the Manifest of the Black Rock from the Widmore website (http://www.widmorelaboratories.com/).

Captain: Magnus Hanso – Grandfather, Father, or even alternate name? So people don’t know how old he really is of Alvar Hanso once financial and Mastermind behind the Dharma Initiative.
1st and 2nd Mates: Alexander and Clifford Widmore - Grandfather, Father, or even alternate name? Charles Widmore. Also Financial backer and producer of goods dropped on the island. Known due to pregnancy test Sun Kwon used it was produced by Widmore Company.

Robert Broughton: Once of the Royal Navy, also known as a Spiritual Leader
Johannes Bedell: One of the famous founder families of the United States
Richard Alpert: Also thought to have rooted name in that of Alpert Rupert religious leader.

Daniel Linderman: Is from the TV Show Heros – Which had links to the Nine Unknown Men

I think possibly Juliet’s slip about they are building the run way for Aliens might not be so far fetched. I once had the thought that they were building it for Flight 815, but 815 showed up before it was supposed to, but to not look like he didn’t know it was going to happen, Ben made them continue to build it waiting what they thought might be the next group.
This is long I know, but the rest of what I think it happening on the island is found in my previous theory Mama’s Boy.
