I don't know if this has been brought up yet, but i was thinking, the whole experiment with Daniel and elouise is probably a metaphor for the island.
Ben knew, or made it happen, that the button wouldn't get pushed and the light would shine on everyone, which was the same color as the light from Daniels machine. The light from the machine gave the rat knowledge of the future which allowed it to run the maze perfectly.
Maybe the survivors are like elouise, and the others or maybe even Jacob, or something else wanted the light to shine on the island, like the light on the rat, and the rat is a parallel to the survivors, and now they know how to run the maze.
AKA they know how to play out the set sequence of events on the island
in order to get the results they want or reach the end of the maze, maybe meaning to get off the island
And maybe thats tied in with the valenzetti equation. if people know or have an idea how to "run the maze", or live their lives out the right way, maybe itll help speed up things like cures for cancer, resolutions for war, etc
