Lately, I had been reading a lot of theories about the best TV show ever “Lost” from the Great Gedanken Experiment, Parallel Universes, to the Temporal Displacement Theory and in my opinion I think a lot of them are great theories but, I don’t believe on them for two reasons:
First, most of them have a lot of holes that can explain some of our questions on the show but, not all of them. Second because I think this TV show could have only two destinies been the best TV show ever made explaining everything perfectly and making sense on every explanation for all our questions or been the biggest fiasco ever made with a science fictional ending that no “lost fan” will swallow.
I am here today to give you what I think is the real theory or the theory that is closer to the truth that I can think of, you will be the ones who judge if is for real or not (any criticism is welcome to cover any holes in the theory )
Let’s begin, if you guys follow the show “Lost” like good fans then you will have millions of questions like I do, some of them are:
What is Smokey and why it is on the island? Who is Jacob? The healing and magnetism power on the island? What are the numbers for and what do they mean? Dharma Initiative? Why women that get pregnant on the island die? How the Black Rock got to the island? The visions that the losties have? Polar Bears? The others kidnapping kids? All the Dharma hutches on the island? Penny’s direct transmition with Charlie? The sonic fence? Richard not getting old? Naomi’s boat? Jack’s Flash-forward? Whose the funeral Jack went to? I can’t think of more right now but, there are many more. I don’t think my theory is perfect because with the producers of the show you never know what can happen or what turn on the show they would make. So, far every episode is always more unexpected than the other (great job guys). But, I think I can approach to the truth, here it is enjoyed:
First, the most normal thing is to begin with the island’s history. That will be the first thing we know so far that got on the island and that is the Black Rock the ship full of dynamite. It arrived to the island by mistake in the 18xx’s by a merchant pirate name Magnus Hanso. He finds out the great secrets of the island the magnetism and the healing powers that the island have. He some how returns home and tell all his family descendants about this island and its location. Unfortunally he gets very sick with some illness that in those times was no treatment for it. So, he decides to return to the island hoping that the island could cure him. But, he ended up dying on the island for the illness or for growing old.
On the 19xx’s one of Magnus Hanso descendant’s Alvar Hanso who dedicates his life selling weapons on the Black Market and got rich from it is living on a real bad time because the Cold War has begun. He starts to understand that he prefers to help humanity than keep on selling weapons. On this change of life that he wants to find he starts by creating a foundation called Hanso Foundation, with his foundation he starts to join meetings made by the UN. On those meetings he finds a mathematical scientist called Ezno Valenzetti. The UN contracts him to create an equation that will determine the exact moment of the end of humanity. This equation to be true had to consider a lot of factors like climate, virus, weapons of mass destruction, etc. The result of this equation creates panic on the UN and the UN tried to forget about it. Alvar Hanso buys the equation so he can stop the end of humanity from happening and for that the UN gives him ilimited access on governments and all kind of help so, he would be in charge of solving the equation problem and change the principal factors of the equation. This numbers are associated with the psychological, social and other factors. The principal factor of the equation are the numbers that we all know are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. In order to try to modify the numbers from the equation is require to act on the world population creating huge deaths world wide or do it in a place that is controlled and secure. So, Hanso remember the island that his ancestor Magnus Hanso had found. He thought it will be perfect because of the magnetic powers the island had because no one would bother him and he would not have to risk too many lives on there since no one apart from his family knew the existence of that island.
Hanso begins his mission to save humanity, he contracts scientists to study the equation and work to change the numbers of the equation and send them to the island with their families so, and they can focus on their job. From this moment Dharma Initiative is born to stop the end of humanity, which is the name that Hanso Foundation gives to this project and the people who work on it. Hanso contracts Wildmore Corp. a constructor company to build different stations on the island so, the scientist will have everything what they need to work on the numbers. His owner Charles Wildmore accepts the job with the condition of been the number two knowing the location of the island in case anything happens to Hanso and knowing everything that goes on there. For now we only know that the Swan station is the only one that has to enter the numbers every 108mins and we don’t know what the other stations are for. This is made so the Dharma could control the magnetic power of the island and would not put in danger any of the scientist or their families in any way and also for the magnetism power on the island would help Dharma to put the island out of any radar world wide and everyone world wide will still think that island doesn’t exits, in case they have to denied the existence of the island and the project.
The Question Mark station (it real name is The Pearl if I am not mistaken) was created to make sure that the scientist do their job (trying to change the equation) so they would be under surveillance so, Dharma would know any progress made and how psychologically the scientist are doing on their duty, by informing everything what they do to their HQ in Dharma or if they have made any progress changing the numbers. Sending the reports of the scientist behaviour and progress on all stations around the island and all the numbers they have enter so, far to keep a record on their progress. These reports are send on the tube that is located on The Pearl that it goes to the communications tower so the people there can inform to the Dharma HQ all reports made so far. But, only the people in charge on the communications tower can contact Dharma because is the only way to communicate to the real world. Hanso also constructs two other stations one of them to was an image station so they can get all the news about the real world and know what is going on there and also an under water station called “The looking glass”. That station was made to block all signals from the outside world and to have a direct connection with Hanso and Wildmore so; they will know everything what happens on the island. The looking glass station would get the signal from the communications tower and report its communication to Hanso and Wildmore.
Everything was all right and well planed but, Dharma did not count with the hostiles that already live on the island before them and its leader someone called “Jacob”, a man that for some reason his people consider him a kind of god. They made a statue and a temple for him, the four fingers, is a statue of Jacob and the temple made for Jacob is were the actual Richard went when Ben went to see Jack on the last episode.
After years of Dharma working on the island and having trouble with the hostiles, Dharma sent a new team to the island and on that team is Ben who arrive with his dad. His dad is an alcoholic that lives on depression because of the lost of his wife and he thinks her dead is Ben’s fault and hate him for that. Ben was in a world that he hated on an island that he didn’t like anyone of Dharma and after arguing with his dad he tries to escape and that is how he meets Richard. On that time Richard was Jacob’s right hand and in charge of wining the war against Dharma. Richard became a very good friend with Ben and he use him to take out Dharma of the island. But, after knowing him Richard knew he will need a dad character for Ben to help him. So, Richard introduces him to Jacob. Ben start seeing Jacob like the father he never had. He begun informing everything what Dharma did on the island and their weakness. After some time Jacob trace a plan to get rid of Dharma an in exchange he would make Ben his right hand replacing Richard.
About that time is when Russeu and her crew came to the island and also Henry Gales the guy of the balloon crash on the island. Ben followed Jacob’s plan, an expose Dharma team with a gas to kill all Dharma Corp. of the island but, that gas he expose Dharma killed Russeu’s crew and Henry Gales. After this incident the hostiles got the power back of the island. But, they have to do something in case Dharma send some backup so, they continue with Dharma’s protocol sending the numbers like they were the scientist working on them. Since Dharma never knew what happen to their team on the island they still send them provisions and equipment. Ben and the hostiles take over the houses of Dharma and live on them because there was on thing that Dharma build that they did not defeat and only Dharma knew how to protect them selves from it with the sonic fence. Dharma uses the sonic fence to be protected from Smokey because they knew his weakness since they build it and that weakness is the sound like Cerberus weakness.
Smokey was build by Dharma as a security system, to protect Dharma’s team from the hostiles, intruders, and all animals Dharma used for their test like sharks, dolphins, rabbits and Polar bears. Smokey has the ability to read his victims souls, past, biggest fears and to became into those fears shapes like for example Kate’s Horse, Dave, Ecko's brother, Jack’s Father, Walt and many other visions that the losties have. Smokey can turn the shape of his victim’s fears or regrets, he uses this ability to take them away from their crew and kill them alone. Smokey has also the power of making the woods talk to scare his victims since he lives under the soil. So, Dharma would be sure that if one of those animals they use for tests is infected or anything the security system would not let him leave the island and kill it in case is necessary. Dharma used these animals to make the test they need to make on humans to solve the equation, also to know if these animals would have any genetic change and also to exam them if they can conceive on the island because Dharma wanted to find out why the women of the scientist’s families died when they got pregnant on the island. But, they never found the answer of that question. Smoke kills Ecko because it knows that there only two people that came from the plane that can put the island in danger, the two man of faith Ecko and Locke. But, it also tried to kill Locke taking him to a hole but, Kate save him with dynamite. Either that or Smokey was protecting something that Ecko might find out.
After sometime Richard died and Ben becomes the leader of the hostiles but, Ben, was very upset for his death since Richard was the only friend he ever had and help him becoming someone so, he tells his crew to make a clone of him. But, this clone would forget that he was the leader of the hostiles because Ben he wants to stay as the leader of the hostiles.
Ben knew about the problem of pregnant woman dying on the island so, he had to contact Dharma to get a fertility doctor to see if that doctor can solve the problem. Dharma still thinks they controlled the island since the never knew about what happen to their team, they still think their team is on the island. So, Dharma finds the best fertility doctor on the country and that doctor is Juliet and to make sure it happens Ben sends Richard to get her taking the identity of one of the scientist of Dharma on the island so, Dharma would no suspect nothing and for them not to find him he use the submarine so Dharma would not track him. The submarine is the only way the hostiles had to get out of the island because is the only transportation they can use that they could be sure they would not be follow.
The owner of the Wildmore the company, Charles Wildmore has a daughter called Penelope Wildmore and she is in love with Desmond someone that he is dad thinks is a mistake for her daughter. Charles gets Desmond file and to find out about him, he tries to bride him with money and doesn’t work. So, Charles finds out about his dream of going around the world by boat. He plans a supously route around the world by boat and contracts Libby to meet him and give her supously dead husband boat. Desmond accepts the boat since Libby is very convincing, he begins this route but, he doesn’t know that this route will end up on the island, so he can be trap there and Penny will forget him and never find him as Charles W. planned. But, what Charles didn’t realize was that Penny was very consistent and she used her money to find him. She suspected that his dad has something to do in Desmond disappearance so; she started investigating and found out about his relationship with Dharma and about the island. She did not have an exact location of the island (because only Hanso and Charles knew about it) until the explosion of the Hutch where the two Portuguese guys and many others she had contract to find Desmond detect a electromagnetism explosion in a near location that she had found out where she thought where the island could be. That is why Penny communicate with Charlie because since that she had been trying to communicate to those coordinates where the explosion happen but, she could not get her signal threw because of the looking glass which was blocking the signal.
After years trying to change the numbers of the equation with out any success, Hanso starts feeling disappointed so, he gave his job to a young man called Thomas W. Mittlewerk who at that time was his right hand. When Tomas got the power he studied the project and realize that he had to make changes for the project to work. Since the tests on the island didn’t work he thought it was time to try test world wide, Hanso finds out about Thomas new project and tries to stop him, since everyone in Dharma did not know too much of Hanso because Thomas was the new Dharma leader. Thomas kidnaps him, to take him out of the way and continue his project with no one to stop him. But, to do that he needs to send a team to the island to find out all the progress the scientist of Dharma had made since they are there. Hanso doesn’t tell him the location of the island and Charles Wildmore doesn’t know about Hanso kidnap but, he doesn’t trust Thomas too much because he thinks he is too young for the job. Charles tells him he doesn’t know the location he said he knows some near coordinates of the island. Thomas starts to find out that they are not in control on the island since he tried to contact the Dharma team there for its location and they did not had no answer of it. After the explosion on the hutch he finds out the location on the island and also that what he suspected was completely right the hostiles own the island. So, he sends a ship with a team to get ride of everyone on the island and have the power on the island again.
Rachel Blake is Alvar Hanso’s daughter, she hack into the Hanso foundation with the nickname of “Persephone” to reveal the truth of the location of his dad.
Oceanic 815 crashes because Desmond could not put the numbers on time so, it releases some of the magnetic field of the island to the plane and it makes the plane crash. But, Desmond stopped the hutch it to blow on time.
The others see the plane crash and with the contact they have with Dharma Corp. they get all their files. Ben sends Goodwin and Ethan to go inside the plane crew so they can know how many woman and kids they got. So they can make them pregnant and make test on them and about the kids they just send them away from the island because they don’t want them to be part of this they just want to give them a better life but, before doing that they make tests on them like on the animals to see if there is any genetic changes, if there is then they keep them as use them on the island. They kidnap Claire because she was pregnant and they tried to study her pregnancy to see if she dies or not. Ethan and Goodwin died killed by the losties.
Ben is kidnap by Russeu in purpose since Ethan and Goodwin died he begins to worry that the losties are becoming a problem. He wants to check if the numbers are being put and to know how the losties group work. He discovers that Jack is the leader and how to use him. He uses the story on Henry Gales because he buried him after the gas incident because he felt guilty of his dead. After seeing that the situation goes out of his hands (when the losties discover he lies about his identity), Ben contacts his crew by the hatch’s computer like Michael with Walt and tells them to get Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley. But, to do this he waited for an opportunity and that opportunity came with the Lockdown on the hatch. He will also use that lockdown to start controlling Locke, by telling him the numbers are useless so, he will lose his faith on the island. Because the hostiles and Jacob believe that Locke could be the man that could replace him.
Michael is capture and in exchange of Walt he has to save Ben. He kills Ana Lucia and Libby. Libby end on the Hospital for two reasons: 1st the death of his husband and 2nd because she end up crazy for sending Desmond to the trip of his death he could not live with that (if you notice Libby and Desmond never meet on the island). Also the crazy friend of Hurley and Dave the Numbers Guy, I believe is Enzo Valenzetti the guy who created the equation. He ended up crazy because he knows when humanity would end and worked years to stop it and he accomplishes nothing. Either that, or he is someone who was send by Dharma to the island to put the numbers on the Swan and he got nuts because of it.
Ben captures Jack, Sawyer, Kate and Hurley for the following reasons: Jack to cure him from his tumour, Kate and Sawyer so, they have sex and get her pregnant and Hurley because he gets along with everyone so they will be sure the message would go around and the losties would start fear them.
Thomas W. Mittlewerk’s sets a crew since he doesn’t know where the island is but, knew about the near coordinates thanks to Charles Wildmore he sends a ship which Naomi as part of the crew. This crew finds the real coordinates of the island thanks to the Hutch explosion like Penny but, they get there before her and her crew. Thomas’s crew on the ship sends helicopters to search where the explosion was and to see if that was the location of the island. One pilot of those helicopters finds the location of the island and ejects herself from the helicopter to the island but, making it looks like the helicopter crash by blowing it. The pilot on that helicopter was Naomi, Naomi and all the pilots send to search the locations have a picture of Penny and Desmond’s. They got that picture because the new Dharma lead by Thomas knows that the losties crash there and they have made on public of their dead on the crash. So, no one will ask questions if they get rid of them in case they became a problem. But, before performing that Thomas contacts with Charles so, he tells him al Desmond history. So, Thomas elaborates a plan, to get the confident of the losties, because he knows the losties would be his only chance to get rid of the hostiles of the island. The plan was to give to every pilot the picture of Desmond and Penny (the only picture that they got together, they got it from Charles that make a copy from the one on her daughters room) so, when they get to the island the pilot who finds it (in this case Naomi) would tell them that they were there trying to find Desmond so they will get the confident of the losties and help them destroy the hostiles. The other part of the plan was to tell the losties that everyone in the real world think they are dead so, they will desire more to get rescue and will not make a problem to get as soon as possible to her ship.
Locke’s father is capture under Ben’s orders. Remember they are professionals and they make look as an accident and make him sleep and waking up on the island so, he thinks that he died before coming to the island. He kidnaps him because Locke starts becoming a problem so he read his file and realize that Locke’s weakness was his father. Ben dares him to kill in front of everyone so, everyone would lose the respect they have for Locke. Richard helps Locke telling him Sawyer is the man for the job because he thinks Ben has lose it. Sawyer kills Locke’s dad and he goes back to see Ben, to take him to see Jacob. Ben takes Locke to see Jacob and Jacob as for help to Locke because he thinks that Ben has lose it and he is the only one that can help him to protect the island from the new Dharma and try to stop Jack from contacting Naomi’s ship.
The funeral that Jack went the person on the coffin could only be one of these three possibilities
1) Ben, because Jack said Neither friend or Family, 2) Jacob, because when the guy on the funeral asked Jack if he wanted to see him, Jack looked scared of seen the body and he look like one of the others when someone mention Jacob’s name acting with fear and respect, 3) The last possibility is someone that have not appear and might be from yet in the four cases Kate have a reason not to see any of them. But, my guests are Jacob or the last one.
It could not be anyone of the following:
Sawyer is with Kate
Michael at least Walt would be on the funeral
Locke again Walt would be on the funeral
The following is my guest of what might happen on Season 4:
The rescue team of the ship is going to trap the losties and hostiles, Michael and Walt are on the ship. The losties would make a deal with Dharma in exchange of their silence from the world wide test; Dharma would give them a new life. Jack becomes a drug addict because he can’t live with the idea of knowing that Dharma is going to make a world wide test and cause a lot of deaths because of them (the losties), letting Dharma find the island and give them the power to do it. That is why he go back to try to fix what he done and until he does it, he can’t live a normal life. Kate got a new life and identity from Dharma she is with Sawyer that is why she doesn’t want to be a part of it because finally she can stop running and she is happy with Sawyer.
Well, this is what I think so far about the show, I am not completely sure but, I think I cover most of the main holes. If there any thing you guys want to comment so ask, don’t hesitate doing it. I know is long but, is worth it if you are a lost fan like I am.
