One theory that I would like to throw out there is about “Adam and Eve”, the two skeletons that were found in the caves. I think the black and white stones found on the bodies were not that important, as in the stones themselves. I think what it was meant to represent was that one person was black and one person was white. In the Swan, there is a mural with two people on it, one is black and one is white. There are 2 conclusions that you can make of this. First, the obvious would be Bernard and Rose, because they are the only interracial couple on the island (that we know of). But this conclusion does not lead to very much. The second conclusion, and the one that makes the most sense, is the bodies are those of Rose and Locke. They are the only 2 adult losties that have had significant ramifications from being on the island (Rose with her cancer and of course John with his legs).
I think what we are going to find out is that once the boat that is off the coast of the island arrives, there is a big battle. The losties will join forces with the “others” and everyone will be killed but a few people. Kate and Jack make it off the island (as we have seen) and I think that Bernard makes it off as well. And I think that it was Bernard’s body that was in the casket in the season finale because of the neighborhood the funeral was in (maybe near some of Roses family members-but they did not want to go because he let her stay on the island), which means that because they did not want to go back to a world where their cancer would come back or where they would be paralyzed again, Rose and Locke stay on the island and survive. With their healing abilities, if they were injured or maybe even killed (Mikhail?), they would be able to make it.
I think Jack wants to go back because he knows he left the other people there to die or at the very least, fend for them selves. That is why he flies back and forth each weekend hoping they would crash again. Kate, always on the run, could not care one way or another because Sawyer was killed helping them escape. The people that were on the boat promised them that if they kept silent about the island, then they would not come after them. That is why Jack said that he was tired of lying as well. I think he ends up finding a way back to the island (maybe some separate DHARMA/HANSO project somewhere) and gets another chance to save them. But there was some sort of time shift and that is why they find the bodies of “Adam and Eve” that seem to be decades old.
I am not completely sold on all of this, but I think that I am on the right track with who “Adam and Eve” are. Please feel free to post any comments on this if you would like
