This is only a small part of the story of Lost most if not all will be wrong but it was fun anyway. I know I missed and did not cover a lot of things but here goes
The island's been around for a long time. I am not to sure about what the island is, but I have ideas about what it can do. Let's start with the natives I think if any are true natives of the island it would be Jacob. I believe Richard and the some of the others are from the black rock and some other boats that have crashed on the island. Richard and the others do not age or they age very slow. I believe the reason for this is some kind of plant or mix of plants that can only be found on the island. Which they used for one reason or another. How they came to this I don't know? Anyway they take this and they stop or slow down aging and all is fine in this new world. This is the reason that you can have kids age on the island they don't stop until they take that plant, and they only give it to adults. Now look at Karl he looks very young but Alex asked him about Ben not being her dad so that could lead one to believe he could be older so I think he was taking the plant before they knew what it could do. Now they don't give it to children to let them age and it has turned into a ceremony when it is time to give it to the new people which maybe the reason they are going to a place called the temple. The plane crash people are going to take it.
Now back in the day Jacob would get to know the people of the island and pick one who is really special and that person alone would talk to Jacob and lead the rest into taking care of the island that is letting them live forever. The one who talks to Jacob does not stay the chosen one forever because people keep coming to the island and so other special ones come to the island and are taken to Jacob and a new chosen one is found. Richard I believe was one of the chosen ones.
Ok now to Ben and Dharma. The DI came to the island at some point and found out about Richard and the others not aging and they found out how and so gave it to Joop. Richard and the now hostiles I think were only trying to protect themselves and live on the island. Now here comes young Ben who is special too. young Ben goes and finds what I think is also a native of the island the smoke monster taking the form of his mother telling him he has to be patent which I think means grow up to take the plant and be the chosen one for Jacob. So Ben runs away and finds Richard and tells him what his mom said. Richard then knows that Ben is the next chosen one and by the look on his face I don't think he was upset by this he knew his time would end. He tells Ben to wait which means to wait until he is old enough to take over. I believe when the time came Ben and only Ben was the one who made the decision to kill the DI and Richard and the rest just followed along because Ben was the new chosen one and he alone could talk to Jacob.
Now Ben has it turned out was not a good one to pick I think before the purge Annie and him got married and tried to have a baby and he lost both of them like all the rest on the island who try. So now that he is the chosen one he can try and do something about it but Jacob does not worry about such things so Ben found a way to trap Jacob with the ash and sets out to find a way to have babies on the island and since he alone talks to Jacob he tells the others that is what Jacob wants them to do so they follow along and Richard goes out and finds Juliet to help solve the problem which I think the problem is it is natures way of controlling the population on the island because people live so long. Now has time goes on Richard and some of the others start to think something maybe wrong.
So now to the plane crash which has Locke on it. Who Ben thinks just might be the next chosen one so he takes Locke to see Jacob hoping that Locke will not hear or see Jacob which would mean Locke is not that special so he would have nothing to worry about but Locke hears Jacob who I feel needs technology or the power from it to break free of Ben. Now Ben can't have Locke taking over and stopping him the power has gone to Ben's head he is crazy. So he takes Locke to a place not many would go to I bet and shoots him but he was worried about what Jacob had said to Locke but when he found out it was only "help me" and not something like Ben is crazy and holding me prisoner Ben did not think he needed to shoot him again.
Ben could very well be right about Naomi and the boat that is coming but he has messed up so bad with Jack's group. Jack does not believe him. Ben has really messed things up for all of the people on the island think about it. I say it was when he got the others to purge the DI and then he took Alex which led to all kinds of problems for them. Alex helped Claire get away from the others. Alex fell for Karl which led to him being put into that room and had to be helped by Kate and Sawyer so Alex was able to get him to go and tell them that some were coming to the beach and he got Juliet to the island who is also helping Jack. Ben has set in motion all of this in a way and I do think he is starting to see.
