Desmond: "Just need to show them something" Is it just me?... by Sam Prew

First time posting a theory so be nice.

A lot of people have been wandering about what Desmond meant when he said he "needs to show them something", "them" being the people on the Oceanic 815 manifest list. People have said that "he needs to show them that their lives aren't real" but how can he do this?

Desmond now realises that in order for people to have visions/flashes of the main timeline they have to have a near death experience (Charlie choking on the 815 flight saw Claire. Desmond saw flashes when he and Charlie crashed in water), so perhaps how Desmond shows them is by nearly killing them (somehow) or getting them to the near death state so that they can have their flashes.
