LOST Theories - DarkUFO

I dont think MIB is as evil as he is made out to be,...in fact I think he is the main protector of the island and this is why i say so.....

When MIB arrives to speak to Jacob about the arrival of the new ship - the Black Rock.. he is angry firstly at the fact that people are again arriving to Island, as though they are not meant to be there in the first place,....and secondly because he knows Jacob brought them there not for 'he sake of the island' but to prove MIB/smokey wrong what ever that maybe.....

What i find interesting is that if MIB is 'evil incarnate' he wouldn't care who or what Jacob did to the island...it wouldn't bother him that it always 'ended the same' by them killing and destroying each other, in fact I would have thought 'evil' would want people to kill and destroy each other.

Another thing I always remember is Ben saying that the 'smoke monster' was a type of security system for the Island and at a later stage talks of he himself must go to be judged for his actions i.e for killing real Locke,.. again this is another reason why I feel MIB is the main protector of the island...as it seems to be his job to judge, protect and destroy....

Also if Smokey was 'Christian' in the Cabin he is the one who told Locke to move this Island when it was under threat by Widmore and the freighter people in order to protect it

The Mib/smokey talks of being a man once too... with feelings etc.....what we dont know is how or when MIB actually became smokey or why. Perhaps that is how he become the main protector/ security system as Ben put it.... he had to become a smoke entity that could travel around the island quickly and could kill without being killed....

We know that Smokey has killed alot of people but what i have noticed about smokey in his new human form of Locke is that he now always gives them a choice first before doing so ..he gave Bram and the people in the temple a choice to 'leave or die',...and when he explained to Swayer why he has killed so many poeple he explains that if he doesnt kill the ones wanting him dead it will be him being killed in the end and that he does not want to die....

He seems to know a lot about everyone and he seems to care to a certain extent, ....looking after claire by giving her something to keep going without Aaron even if it was having an enemy, explaining his actions to Kate about Claire,....understanding peoples like Swayer and Sayid who are 'lost angry souls' due to circumstances rather than through constant choice...perhaps a similar thing happend to Smokey... he talks of being betrayed as a man.

He also told Richard that he would never have kept him in the dark about what this was all about and was quiet surprised to find out Richard had been.

So far he seems to be a 'man of his word.,....and All he wants is to do is leave the island and go home......to me its seems that he is just fed up of everything and doesnt want to be apart of Jacobs ploy of constantly trying to 'prove him wrong' anymore...and jacob wanting to find a replacement.....

'The others' in the name of ' Jacob and the island' have killed alot of people too and dont seem very bothered when they do..they seem to have alternative motives especially Widmore who sent the freighter people to kill everyone on the island .which makes me wonder if Widmore really that much of a good guy either?

He said to Ben someone would have to replace him when he leave so he does know how important he is to the island,......I think he is the true protector of the island who has just had enough of it all..

I am not saying MIB/smokey is going to be the 'good guy' in the end but I certainly don't think he is as evil as he is made out to be.....I also know he has had a long plan to find his loop hole,..... not so he can destroy the island like everyone thinks but just so he can leave it even if he is a smoke thing/human....which seems to be a common request by all that are stuck there,......

I guess this is more an observation/ theory but I would be interested to know what you all think.
