Sorry for the confusion, this is a part 2 with a little more clarification.
Basically I think the Losties will board in Australia and from there to LAX realize that something is weird. Jack will get some inkling that the plane will crash and try to fix everything. This I refer to Final Destination movies. Jack will see what can happen like Desmond and stop it or prolong it.
In addition, Jack and every other Lostie who normally survived the 815 crash will have Desmond-like experiences. When they run into people they had relationships with on the island it will really ring a weird bell. Remember when Desmond saw Charlie in the rain singing the Oasis song? Just like that. They will all realize that there was another path where they were in a crash and actually all knew each other.
This will drive them all nuts, especially Jack and Locke. These 2 will have the most significant losses because they are such big players on the island. Somehow, all of the Losties must get back to the island. Does that mean just the people who were killed by Jughead in 1977? Or does it mean everyone who was supposed to crash on the island in 815? All of those people should be on the island. I think it was a great comment when someone asked about the people who died on the island who are now back home safe in LA.
I think once those people get to the point where they would have been dead on the island, they will be able to make important changes to the world and alter history without the chance of course correction. This would be like when Desmond kept Charlie alive in season 3. He kept prolonging his life until he finally could not anymore. However, in that time, Charlie was able to do something he never would have done. Remember, he was supposed to be struck by lightning. Not play a tune so everyone could get on Penny's boat. If he doesn't play the Beach Boys, the O6 die in the water after the helicopter goes down in season 4.
So, with all of that, what happens. If everyone goes back, even John Locke in a wheel chair, does that make 3 Lockes on the island? Or does his separate timeline just not converge with the one with him dead in a box and his body also being paraded around by MIB? Who knows but that's where I am right now? Sorry for the confusion, hope this clears things up a bit.
