Okay after watching Season 2 and Season 3 again and reviewing the recent Season 5 in full again. I feel I’ve struck serious gold. (I’m not omitting Season 4, I just haven’t gotten to rewatching it again for this 2009 hiatus).
Now look, my theory in general is that everything we’ve witnessed—the storylines, the side stories—EVERYTHING can be summed up in what Mr. Eko said, "Don't Mistake Coincidence for Fate.”
Everything that seems like destiny is actually really is just that---coincidence—manipulation! (I know this has probably been thought before, but just read lol)
The season 2 episode, Dave, with the food drop REALLY struck out to me. (TPTB REALLY know how to hide mythology in these heavy character-driven episodes.)
I believe that when Ben leaves that room in season 2 episode, Lockdown, to push the button he really did something beside…push the button. We were shown earlier you can 'communicate' with other computers, even though someone has to contact the Swan. Then we we're shown later people can also WATCH the swan. So this leads back to Ben communicating with the Others, at that time he was giving the lists to Others so they can give it to Michael which leads to Season 3 and on cause later in Season 2 and beginning of Season 3 we learn Ben is the immediate leader.
Now, I've been reading theories that the Food Drop happened because the timelines are mixing but nah, I don't buy that nonsense. I think the food drop is just a manipulation to confuse our Losties. The Food Drop just HAPPENS to happen when Ben leaves that room to go push the button. Negative! Something is off and I’m surprised we don't have more theories about mixing all the SEASONS and theories together to understand what's possibly going on here. Jacob and MiB actually being REAL changes so many things and puts things in new perspective.
Onto these 'lists'. If Jacob really is the one making these 'lists' and we're assuming as of this moment since we see he is actually real, then FOR NOW, we can assume that he made the list. But until we see and he says that he didn't make those list (except for the one Ben made) then we are going to go by Jacob actually making these lists! Read on…
But something else also struck me odd in the Season 2 episode 'Dave'. From what we've seen, shouldn't Hugo have been taken? He is probably the MOST good out of EVERYBODY. It doesn't make sense that he wasn't taken. Since the Hostiles go by and live by Jacob and he makes list about people being good…uh, Hugo should have been taken (even though at this point we don’t know if Jacob is on the good or bad side of game board but that doesn’t matter, they obviously recruit people by using a higher power)…
Also in that same episode, Dave—Hugo’s imaginary friend--the illusion is trying to KILL him. So...from the logic that Jacob is good and MiB is bad, why would MiB kill people from his own side. (Here's where Backgammon comes in, the objective of BG is to remove all of your own pieces off the board). So it could makes sense but at the same time it's still WTF! What makes it more WTF is that in season 2 episode, ‘Two For The Road’, Ben says that Locke is one of the good ones. But if he was, why wasn't he taken when they first got to the beach, so Ben could have been lying—manipulating these people)
Next, I've noticed more evidence of two sides for the illusions on the island. I'm guessing this has been said before, but just in case….it seems there's
1)illusions of people who have been dead or died either on or off the island: (Yemi, Boone, Christian, the 3 men Eko killed in the church, and Alex etc.) and
2) the other group are people/animals who are alive but only off-island (Kate's Horse, The alter boy from Eko's flashback, Walt, etc.).
Cause watch the season 3 eppy 'The Cost of Living' in Eko's final centric, those 3 men he killed come out of nowhere, but then a second later the alter-boy comes out and the 3 black men disappear. Almost like....there's 2 forces (because of what I’ve broken down)--A GAME perhaps (but obviously not that simple lol).....The wild card is Claire obviously.
But this where things get extremely tricky and this is what I’m leading up to. Jacob has met some of our Losties at a certain point in all their lives (I say some because at this point, we don’t know if Jacob has met Claire or Charlie). So this means they should have MOST DEFINITELY been taken after they crashed on the island just like when some of Tailies were taken. So following this interesting logic and what I’ve said before this, what if the Hostiles themselves are led to believe they are following Jacob's orders but are actually following MiB's orders but they don't know that.(RICHARD I'M LOOKING AT YOU).
The new group that came on the Ajira 315 flight (Bram, Ilana, Cesear(sp)) are DEFINITELY following Jacob because in the Season 5 episode 'The Incident', Jacob himself meets with Ilana (HELL for all we know that could have been a flash-forward lol). So it's going to be interesting because if the Hostiles think they’re doing good but are actually following someone else’s orders that isn’t Jacob’s (MiB’s or Richards) then they are actually on the BAD side! Which means Jacob is the good side, even though the Hostiles aren’t TRULY following Jacob. They just think they are. At this point in time, the ONLY people we know Jacob has touched or brought to the island through our eyes are Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Locke, and Hurley and also that boat at the beginning of the season 5 finale. The only flaw so far I could find in my theory is that when Ilana meets Richard, they greet each other and are possibly on the same side. But at the same time, Ilana may be on the right side, but Richard may not, although unknowingly. So either I’m going to be EXTREMELY wrong, in the ball park (that’s my goal), or I have spoiled a HUGE portion of season 6 lol. I had a counter-argument with my theory by someone who said in the season 3 episode 'The Cost of Living', Eko states that he was wrong, that everything is happening for a reason. But Eko himself is only coming to terms with his brother and island by what he believes. Just because he stated doesn't make it true. But in the end for Eko it's happy because he's at peace, but for the overall story, it's all just manipulation and 'coincidence.'
Next, to add a little in-show side-nugget to this theory, in the season 3 episode, Not In Portland, Carl is being brainwashed lol, but if you watch what it reads, at one point text come up on the screen saying “We are the causes of our own suffering”. Now judging from the talk between MiB and Jacob, Jacob does not AT ALL seem like someone who would say that. I can totally see MiB saying that and then Jacob rebutting with “the human race really are good people and that ,”everything that happens before is just progress!” HELLO IT’S SITTING IN FRONT OF OUR FACES!!!
Because honestly, I can’t see in the end the Losties actually doing something bad for some cause in the end if that makes sense. Because this whole show is about redemption and them being well….Lost. One of the HUGE twists will be that the Hostiles really aren’t being led by Jacob and I’m going by that.
EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON --> EVERYTHING MANIPULATED HAPPENS FOR SOMEONE'S REASON <-- DON'T MISTAKE COINCEDENCE FOR FATE
