Ockham's Razor applied to each mystery by Hopefully optimistic

So, ockham's razor, in a nutshell is:

" The simplest explanation or strategy tends to be the best one"

So, let's apply this logic to lost and see what we end up with:

Mystery 1 - Can the island cure people of illness?
Razor - the most likely explanation would be that people who have gotten better on the island would have gotten better anywhere. Therefore this is the simplest explanation (I also include John Locke in this, as it is not unheard of for people who have been paralysed to walk again, and in these instances these people did so without aid of a mystical island)

Mystery 2 - The smoke monster
Razor - the most likely explanation would be that this "monster" is actually technology. Nothing like this is known in nature, nor has ever been recorded in science as a natural occurance. Therefore is stands to reason that this is a machine (possibly a sentient one) which was created by man (I say by man, because the show hasn't shown any aliens to exist and as far as I've seen so far even Jacob appears to be human). So bottom line is that it is technology

Mystery 3 - Time Travel (island and conciousness)
Razor - Time travel is theoretically possible. Therefore razor says that given the varying timelines that time travel has occured. Don't know how, but i do know that it was nothing to do with a wheel made of stone, however if in a number of years time scientists bring out their time travel machine and a big donkey wheel is part of it then I'll admit my error.

Mystery 4 - Jacob and the other dude who's very old too, and Richard. Who can they be so old?
Razor - "Normal" life expectency is around 85 years for a man, however this life expectency has been increasing dramatically from advances in better lifestyles, diet and science, so who can predict who old humans are capable of living with the correct diet, technology and lifestyle. So razor would suggest Jacob et al have access to much more advanced technology/ways of living and it is through this that they are able to live such extended lifes, I feel this is much more plausible then simply suggesting he is some kind of God or immortle being.

Mystery 5 - Who are the others?
Razor - A group of people who live on the island, are taught latin, learn how to fight very well. That's it.

Mystery 6 - Some people appear to be psychic, how can this be?
Razor - There is nothing in science to suggest people can't have pyschic ability. In fact 80-90% of the average human brain is unused, it may be that some people are able to access abilities that others aren't. There are examples in nature of pyschic ability (the hive mind for one), therefore I think the most reasonable explanation is that some people are pyschic, and they would be that way whether they came to the island or not.

Mystery 7 - Shapeshiffting people/coming back from the dead
Razor - I've read no scientific theory that says people can't come back from the dead. People can be dead for 10 minutes and be brought back to life. I appreciate that peoples organs bodily functions begin to decomposes, but again who's to say what scientific advances there will be in the future. It would just be arrogant to say that it's impossible for people to be brought back to life. So again I think this is done with technology, not necessarily because of a spooky island.

So bottom line is that there is a scientific explanation for everything. The island is just an island, albeit one with a significant amount of technology on it.

So end of the show will be Jacob on the beach with some impressive advanced techology, teaching everyone how to extend their lives, and living in peace on the island forever.
