ONLY THEIR MINDS WILL TRAVEL, WHILE THEIR BODIES ARE STILL IN 1977

I think "the constant" layed the ground work for what we will expect in season 6. But will be a twist on that formula. Instead of the mind being thrown back in time, it will be thrown in an alternate reality that has split off the main timeline.

So to clarify: only their consciousness is in the alternate reality, their bodies will be seemingly unconscious back in 1977.

I think they will be thrown back and forth between the main 1977 reality and the Alternate one and a "ticking clock" will start: which means they all must do something before ,something bad happens. Which i theorize will be either.

1-dieing as a result of the constant jumping
2-the alternate reality becoming unstable and destroying itself.

I theorize at some point they seek out the help of an alive and well Daniel Faraday who will explain all the science mumbo jumbo and help them merge or get back to the one reality.

STORY IMPLICATIONS

I believe from a story point of view the alternate timeline will achieve the following.As the characters(specifically jack) will view first hand that landing on the island was their destiny.Either by showing the new reality to be worse or by showing how the new reality follows the same principles of what had occurreddd before. eg- Boone dying, Claire having a baby with katinvolveded, meaning that whatever happened was meant to happen. I think Jack will see this realizing that he shouldn't have any regrets and to finally accept his "destiny".

From this realization will be the decision to return to their 1977 bodies with a renewed motivation for their new purpose. Which ill go into next.

PURPOSE
I think Jacob touched the key people who will save the island. I think their "FLASH-alternate" experiences will uncover the truth about, Jacob, MIB and the island.They will have the knowledge of what to do and what their purpose is.

HOW WILL THEY GET BACK TO THE PRESENT AFTER THEY RETURN TO 1977?
Time travel. Remember that chamber that Ben blew up that was in front of the DONKEY WHEEL. I think thats what Dharma built to manipulate time. Jacob will give them the exact time and date to them (he gave it them in the Flash-Alternate). And what its built they will leave.

WHAT WILL THEY DO UNTILL THE TIME MACHINE IS BUILT?
Train. For the war that is coming.
