LOST Theories - DarkUFO

Why the reset is MIB's loophole by The Von

I'm going to go out on a limb here and argue that when Ajira landed on the island, they entered a reset time line where Jughead had been detonated and 815ers never crashed.

If Ben killed Jacob in the reset time line, then that would perhaps imply that the reset is what made this event possible.

Of course, the obvious complaint here is that Ben, Locke, et al don't appear to be in a reset time line in S5. The campsite clearly exists on this island, along with the hatch door.

However, this is an island that moves. We saw it disappear in season 4. Where/when did it reappear? If Ajira can travel from an old time line into a new one, then why not the island? So I guess for this to work, we would have to assume that when the island reappeared, the time line had already been been changed. This means that the island, the 70s losties, and the Ajira flight are all remnants of a time line that no longer exists.

So here is MIB's loophole: Jacob could not be killed in the original time line without creating a paradox. However, now that the time line has changed, all bets are off. Perhaps MIB chose Ben to kill Jacob because Jacob never touched Ben (poor guy). This would imply that Jacob's touch is a form of self-protection: once he has touched you, you can no longer kill him without creating some time-loop induced paradox. Or something.

Having Ben kill Jacob in the reset time line could also allow for the fact that there appear to be two Lockes without our having to sit through a lot of bad CGI shape shifting.
