Who is Desmond? by Geej

Out of all theories, I wonder who is Desmond? Where he comes from? Who are his parents? Have we ever seen him or Penny as kids? The further memories we've seen is him telling his ex fiancée that one day, he was engaged to her and the other day he woke up on a road and Brother Campbell came and saved him. What the hell?

Ok, maybe I haven't read all the theories so far and I'm late... but...

I think Charles Widmore is not Penny's biological's father. Remember he's not having any contacts with her?

I think Charles Widmore is little Charlie, the baby of Desmond and Penny. I think in 2007 or so, Desmond and Penny will go back to the island with little Charlie who will end up back in time with Eloise somehow and then blabla, all we know. And in the 70's, he adopted Penny as his daughter to be sure she does not die before she gives birth to him and he makes sure everything happens correctly so he can be born.

Well, it does not explain why the "opposites" and all that and does not even try to go on the smoke monster avenue : I have no damn clue about all these "ghosts" and phenomenons and I am trying to just try to find what's really missing. So even Jacob and this guy on the beach who took Locke's form, plus the newcomers and why the new poster of season 6 is like it is is not in question here.

But what if the kids (aka Walt, Ji Yeon, Aaron, etc) are the ones fighting - the ones who this war is all about?? Let's say little Charlie is Charles Widmore. Who is Walt? Who is Aaron in the 2000's? And Ji Yeon? And maybe even the two kids in the plane, first season? I have no idea why and what they would fight for...

We know nothing about Desmond and Penny's childhood.
I want to know.
