Ok, just to start off this is my FIRST theory, but i am a big fan of the show and have been reading theories on here forever. lately i've seen some that really tie into what i think was going on.
i am definately not a huge sci-fi buff, but i do know my way around the star wars and all that other jazz. so here goes, and this may be long so bear with me....
to really try to understand LOST, you have to think of a few keey ideas:
1. everything we've already seen has significance to the storyline, and they are not going to 'erase that' via a true reset.
2. they only have 17 episodes to answer all the major questions that remain.
3. Darlton has already stated that they are going to focus on character development in this season but that they are going to do something 'different' (sim to season 1)
Now...think of that, 17 episodes left to not change what has already happened but focus on character development while doing something differentt. and i'm getting a little bored with the 'it's aliens' lost is far too original for that, the ISLAND, the smoke monster, and time travel are the myth lore in this show, they are not going to throw in another element unless it ties dierectly into what is already there... so MAYBE an alt reality, sort of....
They also did not show us Jacob and his nemesis for now reason in the series finale, they have to answer this... Jacob is Aaron, and his 'nemesis' could very well be him. Think about it, it would tie directly into the character development that they clearly stated. Ben is also lying and i'm sure has full knowledge of Jacob and MIB and you will see this unfold. I do not think that Jughead changed anything necessarily, so i think you will either see the 77Losties mind flash to a time before the crash (they didn't show Des mind flash to just leave it with him, there must be more of it) and we will see 1 of two things:
1. they make decisions that get them on flight 815, and we find out that they are indeed in a loop and we will revisit scenes from season 1 in which they make small changes.
2. they mind flash but this time something has changed, the space time thing is all screwed up, and they end up crashing on the island in 2007 right after Jacobs death.
The reason i like #2 so much is that this is the exact concept that allows for 2 Jacobs (Aarons) 1 that Kate left in the real world, and another that will be born in 2007. This also means that Richard DID see the Losties die in 77, but guess what, their back.... and maybe not everybody on the plane will survive this, maybe they'll white light jump and fall on the island (i'm not a big fan of that hey we just fell onto the island thing).
