I just read somewhere that Jughead is the one who crashed down the statue. I compleatley disagree with this.
I think John Locke crahsed the statue while turning the FDW.
Why? Why else would Miles make the strange comment about the earthquake?
"This time it was different. It was like an earthquake" This was done on purpose..this comment..I am 100% sure.
I always believed that statue dated from an ancient times but after the Incident I was proved wrong. It was 19th century when Jacob and MIB chatted on the beach and the satute was there (we saw a ship on a horizon, similar to Black Rock if not Black Rock). I also believe that minutes, hours, days after this conversation, John pushed the wheel. The result was an eartquake, just like Miles said..earhtquake who set chain of events in motion..
The result was tsunami.
A tsunami is a series of water waves that is caused when a large volume of a body of water, such as an ocean, is rapidly displaced. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other underwater explosions, landslides and other mass movements, bolide impacts, and other disturbances above or below water all have the potential to generate a tsunami. Due to the immense volumes of water and energy involved, the effects of tsunamis can be devastating.
Or the effect could be a very large ship stuck in the middle of the island. Black Rock.
