LOST Theories - DarkUFO

Because Jacob touched them by Carole Anne

he put them on a path that lead them to the island. I’ve been trying to figure out why these particular people (Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Sayid, Jin, Sun, Hurley and Locke were chosen. With so many people on earth to choose from why them?

There is talk of a coming “war” and I get the impression that these people will be involved in it. So if there’s to be a war, wouldn’t Jacob want people with military training, a purpose, and helpful skills? Good, honest folks that would be true blue. If he’s so good, why wouldn’t he pick people with great character and strength. Of all the people in the world to choose from, why our losties?

These people are misfits. Kate kills her step-father to protect her mom, Sayid is a torturer, Jin is a muscle-man for Paik and the son of a fisherman, Sun is manipulative and unfaithful, Locke is in a wheelchair, is easily manipulated and is a dependent personality. And Jack, while a good doctor, is obsessive and controlling. He can’t let go of his ex-wife and is convinced his dad’s having an affair with her. His dad’s an alcoholic who mocks Jack. Sawyer is a con man and a murderer.

I used to think that Jacob arbitrarily brought people to the island and did the best with what he got. But in the Incident we see him intentionally touch our losties giving the impression that this makes them special. So why bring these damaged souls to the Island to fight in the “war”?

I have 3 theories and maybe you will have others.

First theory: They all had parents or knew people who were connected to the island. Jack - Christian,, Sun and Jin-Paik, Hurley’s father (remember he left for a long time) and Locke’s father either MIB, Cooper or someone unknown. But what about Sawyer, Kate and Sayid? I think Kate’s dad may have been part of the others, was in the military, came into contact with Sayid and thought he had potential. That leaves us with Sawyer. The only thing I can think of is that Anthony Cooper was responsible for his parents’ death. Cooper seems to be a thread between Sawyer and Locke. Maybe he has more to do with the Island than we’ve been led to believe. Also we have Desmond and Widmore, and Daniel and Elie. and Miles’ dad is in Dharma but seems to have a good working relationship with the others

So our losties are the next generation of others and will participate in the end game and take control of the Island for Jacob. Will their children will be the 3rd generation to inhabit the island?

Second theory: The rule that Jacob had to play by was that the only way he could win the end game was to bring misfits to the island and help them find redemption. If he could take controlling, angry, murderous, manipulative people with low self esteem and put them in situations that challenged them to do their best, to be heroes, then humanity could be saved. How would he find these people? I think they were at one time or another in the public eye. Hurley’s lottery win put him in the spotlight. Kate’s murdering her dad is news, Sawyer’s parents’ deaths must have been in the paper, Sun and Jin’s wedding was written up in the paper and Paik was a well known man, Jack’s testimony against his dad could have been news, and then there’s Locke. Perhaps after Sawyer’s parents died Cooper was written about and caught Jacob’s attention. When he saw Cooper manipulate Locke, Jacob knew he’d be perfect..

So all of these people could be found and touched by Jacob. But here’s the thing, and that brings me to theory 3.

He touched Kate and Sawyer when they were children. Before they set out on a path of murder, running and conning. So maybe he had future knowledge of them. Maybe the crash of Oceanic 815 was just an accident or an arbitrary selection by Jacob. But he watched how these people acted and reacted and decided they could help him win the end game. So, if indeed, there is a time loop going on, at some point, Jacob decided he had to touch these people to help them along.

So those are my 3 theories. Any other ideas are really welcome.

Any other ideas are really welcome. I’ve been thinking about this awhile and yet to come up with a great answer.
