THEORY:
I was thinking, about how alot of reset theories include the alternate timline. This is a great idea.
One other theme iv noticed is that, lately, episode titles have been important. Dead is Dead, Whatever happened happened,(rules) Tabula Rasa(theme),
My theory adds 1 more to the mix.
"Hearts and Minds"
Okay so heres my theory. The moment jughead went off, an alternate timline was created. However, in order for jughead to go off, we have to assume somthing changed. somthing that DIDNT happen in the original timline.
What that is, I currently have no idea.
But, judging by Richard's "I saw them all die" comment id say in the ORIGINAL timline, they survived the jughead confrontation. They went on to live, and lived out their days with DHARMA,(ONLY reason they where accept because is because of their future knowledge) dying in the purge.
So we have two timlines
Timline A: Blackrock-usarmy(losties)-DHARMA-Incident(losties)-purge(losties die)-815 crashes-season1-season2-season3-season4-season5
Timline B: Blackrock-usarmy(losties)--DHARMA-Jughead explodes(losties)--the island is nuked(losties and everyone in this timline dies)-815 never crashes-losties live off island.
Now, the rules of the show state "Whatever happened happened". Which is usually true. But we have seen things changed before havent we. With Desmond saving Charlie and with Faraday talking to him in 2004. NOW, whenever Desmond change's somthing. We didn't get a new timline. Things changed. Worked themselves into the current timline.
So, if you think about it, theres two types of changes. Massive/alternate timline causing changes(jughead) and Desmond, changes(where things just change, nothing splits)
So, keeping that in mind, heres what I think happened.
The Losties past bodies timline B where destroyed when jughead went off. But the energy unstuck their minds in time. Let's call these unstuck minds, the "jughead losties"
The Jughead lostie's minds however willl have two possible sections to jump to.
Timline A, s1-the purge
and
The 2004 Timline B(losties that landed safely at LAX).
I belive the jughead Lostie's will periodically jump back and from both times. Allowing us to re-visit and change important moments from season1-4.
AND see the Lostie's new off island lives.
Now remember, in my theory the Lostie's died in the purge in timline A,(their present) so the jughead Lostie's mind's can only jump ahead so far in timline A. They will eventually jump to the purge where they could die(and make no more progress in THAT timline, and be stuck in timline B)
Now, I belive that when the jughead lostie's minds are in timline A. They will attempt to change things(saving Boone, exct) Now, because they are unstuck in time, they have essinsially become special Like Desmond, and are now ABLE to CHANGE small things.
Which we will somtimes see the effect of in 2007.(Maybe we see flashes in 2007, and suddnly, Sun has a new memory. Or Ben does. Frankly this would give Sun somthing to DO in 2007, as she would help show us how the losties changes effected 2007)
Now, overall course correction will prevail, making 2007 much the same. But Small things COULD change(certain characters being alive, or still on island in 2007, Maybe Desmond or Walt)
BUT, despite the good changes, the timline A Losties will still have no bodies in 2007(because in the ORIGINAL timline they never left DHARMA and died in the purge)
THATS why Timline B is important. Timline B's time will be spent with Ms Hawking, trying to get their timline B BODIES back to the island(in timline A)
So essincially, the Timline B bodies will reach 2007("they're coming). And the Jughead Lostie's will jump into those bodies.
Now everyone is in Timline A 2007
So, essintially, I think the first half of season 6 will work out like that. Reuniting the Lostie's Hearts and Soul's(their Timline B body) with their minds.(The unstuck in time minds that set of jughead) in 2007.
*Note, this is ONLY going to work if they do decide to have a reset.
