In addition to my original theory, I wanted to explain some of the other stuff that's been going on in the show LOST. Jung wrote about Paracles' theory that Divine Light is caught in a mechanical trap of the 4 elements: Earth, Wind, Fire and Water. That's the Smoke Monster. Jung postulated that it would take the alchemy process done spiritually to release the Divine Light from its trap.
There is need to be spiritually fit and humble in order to succeed in the process or else you could (a) go crazy (Leonard and the numbers), (b) die (Sam and the numbers), (c) cut the shoots or disbelieve everything you used to believe (Danielle) OR (d) become enlightened (hopefully Hurley will reach that and resurrect Locke).
There are certain codes (the numbers), passwords (what did one snowman say...), musical vibrations (keys to Good Vibrations that Charlie put into the computer) and actual keys (Desmond's failsafe key to Swan station)- knowledge of all are needed to get to higher spiritual levels. Desmond is probably a monk who studied the codes extensively in order to guide souls. That's why its so important that he come back.
As I had mentioned, Juliet is the Archangel Gabriel. Gabriel is known as The Morning Star and she has a star mark on her lower back. Gabriel also is Watcher of the South and Juliet has kept a close eye on Sawyer. Sawyer was in danger of losing his soul when he killed the real Sawyer. Thus, he went to the Burning Bodies level of Hell (where the flaming arrows were and Frogert got killed. The demon of lust lives at that level). Also, the Archangel Gabriel is responsible for helping souls across a great abyss and Juliet has achieved that by setting off the bomb.
At the more earthly levels, there are creatures called elementals who help souls in this process. Charlie is an earth elemental in the gnome family called an Irish Sidhe-they typically have light hair, play music and have pointy hats. Claire is a water elemental called an undine-she usually wore blue and swan everyday. Undines can live on earth indefinitely after giving birth to a human child. Shannon was an air elemental called a Devas. Devas are the "shining ones" who tend to be conceited, cruel, possessive and self-absorbed. There was also a fire elemental- a salamander that Shannon brushed off her blanket. Jin is a Djinn, a creature of smoke and fire who has a soul and free will. Djinns come from nothing and achieve much.
The alchemy process is occurring in the plot. A king and queen get together for sinister reasons, fall in love and die simultaneously (Nikki and Paulo). There's an underwater step which I believe either Charlie & Desmond did at the underwater station or Nikki & Paulo did diving for their baggage. Another step involves descent into a hellish place (Desmond, Sayid, Michael, etc on the freighter). In that hellish place there's danger of committing suicide (person jumps off side of boat with chains on). At that step, only the Archangel Michael can admit persons to the next step which is an ascension into a heavenly place. Our Michael was on the freighter to the very end. The heavenly ascent was the Oceanic 6 going home. I think Jacob (the Archangel Uriel) was on the plane taking them home as the stewardess nods at someone in the front of the plane who is behind the area where the pilots are. Archangel Uriel guards the entrance to that level. Hurley said that Jack thoug! ht he was in heaven. The next step involves coming back to earth-that was the Oceanic 6 coming back to the Island.
