I read somewhere a theory about this and would like to visit it with how it could fit with what we know from the Garden of Eden myth and the things that has happennend in Lost since season 1...
First, a brief story of the Garden of Eden
God created light and dark, earth and sky, many other things and then man.
God put the first man, Adam, in garden of Eden.
Garden of Eden was a paradise, Adam was ask by God to name all the things in the garden.
God ask Adam to not eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil
Adam was lonely so God took one of his rib and created Eve, the first woman.
Eve got seduce by a snake an took a bite from the forbidden fruit.
Adam got lured by Eve to eat a bite too.
God noticed that they ate the fruit when he came and they we're afraid of being seen naked.
God bannished them from the Garden of Eden.
Ok now everybody, let's focus on Lost now with this story in our head...
Lost's island is a paradise.
There is a king of snake in Lost, the smoke monster.
When the Losties brough young Ben to Richard, Richard told them that the Ben he would bring back wounldn't be the Ben they knew, he will loose his innocence, like when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.
There is a donkey wheel that teleport you out of the island.
When you leave the island, you're bannished.
I know, I know, it's probably not even related to the show...
