What if the loop hole that the Man in Black and Jacob reference to is actually that, a hole in the time loop. Now I've never been a fan of a time loop, but for this theory it makes some sense.
Time goes by on a loop, possibly following in the same pattern or the exact same events occur over and over. And an event, caused by the Man in Black has created a hole in this loop. My belief is the hole was created when Christian convinced Ben to move the island, causing them to move through time.
Now the time loop could be exactly what the Man in Black described. Jacob keeps bringing people to the island they follow through in a pattern of fighting and destruction and death. So the Man in Black decides to disrupt this "progress" and create a hole by time traveling the 815's. Like Locke said, Jack was never supposed to leave the Island and if he didn't make the call to the Freighter, they wouldn't have been a threat, and the island never would have been moved.
