Hey all,
It's been a while since I have posted, but I have been following the theories regarding the last season very closely! This theory is more of a comment on some of the possible options for next season. I know a lot of people are saying that they won't "re-set' the time line and have the "losties" arrive back on the Island after the plane crash with a different outcome, but I feel like looking at some of the first season episodes there are some allusions to this very possibility.
Watching Collison (episode right after Shannon gets killed) and Ana Lucia and Sayid are facing off. Sayid says to Ana Lucia - "maybe you should kill me, maybe you were meant to" and they have the flash back to AL killing the guy who killed her baby. The AL gives Sayid the opporunity to kill her and he says "what good would it do to kill you if we're both already dead?"
I know in the first season, alot of us, myself included, believed that the whole pergotory option was legit and the first time around I kind of thought this scene alluded to this very idea. Now re-watching it and reflecting on the scene where Sayid tries to kill Ben, but ends up just making Ben who he is today - I can't help but wonder if AL was supposed to kill Sayid. The way that Ben and Jacob (real or fake - the Jacob we were taught to know) prepared Sayid to kill him, it's possible that AL was supposed to do the same to Sayid. It's possible one them was supposed to kill the other, and it seems like Sayid knew that and chose to say no in order to mourn Shannon.
This may be kind of a stretch but Sayid is just one of my favorites and it semeed interesting to think about him acting as an agent of the future/past.
Also interesting to note - this is the episode where Rose and Bernard and Jin and Sun reconnect. The sum total of overachering themes in this episode draws me to believe it is actually more informative than I orignially thought.
Anyway, I realize it's kind of like two half theories but I'd love to get some thoughts on it.
Thanks!
