This is my theory concerning what happens after the bomb "goes off" in the opening scene of season 6. This is a WHH theory. The bomb is negated by the electromagnetic energy under the Swan (or something like that), and so it never goes off.
However, the exposure to a large amount of electromagnetism will cause several of our Losties to have consciousness shifts (just like Desmond) - and at least one person will shift into the future.
Here's how I picture the opening:
- Juliet smashes the bomb and the screen goes white.
- An eye opens - it's Jack's
- He witnesses an event from near the end of season 6
- He shifts back into the "present" time
This will certainly be confusing, as Matthew Fox has stated, as the audience will not understand what they are seeing to begin with, or how this future will come to transpire.
I believe that Jack will shift into the future, where he will see something terrible has happened (e.g the man in black has killed everyone). Jack will be special, just like Desmond, and will then realise what his destiny is - to prevent that event from happening.
At the end of season 6 Jack will succeed, possibly dying in the process.
