Two days in a row and my mind is just on fire with LOST ideas. I was reading some of the lovely comments left by those who were kind enough to make them and realized an ADDITIONAL clue/hint in the dialogue I posted in my OWN post.
Eye of the Island. We all know that eye's play an incredibly important role in the show. We also know that the Monster downloads/scans/manifests...blah blah blah you know what I've said before about the monster. When I saw my line about the "eye of the Island and it was beautiful" that Locke said, I instantly started thinking about Hurley seeing the eye in the cabin. I don't know I was also reading the comicon post and thought of the Hurley look-a-like story that Daemon and Carlton referred too from a previous year and then BAM. It hit me. The "eye of the island" really does have to be the monster in some way.
In all honesty I think the monster could be bringing the only form of entertainment to MIB in the Cabin (think like it being his very own HBO version of the "Real World: Island Shenanigans". The Monster IS the eye. Jacob and MIB never have to go anywhere before their extended pair of smoke filled binoculars does it for them. For most of the show I'm also wondering up until the season 4 premier how much MIB played a part in the story before Jacob? Like it baffles me how the monster was taking forms or that the monster would scan things and who knows maybe it was Jacob or MIB who would THEN take the form of Yemi and Alex.
We assume those manifestations are the monster or MIB exclusively (people kept saying how Locke was the monster so he'd vanish, and then appear to Ben thus making him BOTH MIB and the Monster). I mean seriously I wonder what was going on behind the scenes making every calculated move and ploy to one up the other. Regardless I'm starting to see that the the EYE is everywhere apparently. Only fools are enslaved by time and space and apparently the Latin (language of the enlightened) speaking Other's and Jacob/MIB don't seem to be (along with Smokie) thus why they can literally WATCH everything. "We're here to watch" Cindy said. Cindy was on the "list" They WATCH from the Temple. The PEARL was used to monitor the Swan, and made LOCKE think that the whole point of pressing the button was just part of an experiment. Well maybe the Temple is the equivalent of what was watching the Pearl or maybe even the whole Island and that is also a big part of what has been going on. There's a! specific reason we haven't actually seen the Temple yet, and since the smokie apparently lives underneath it...yeah it's all adding up.
And on a final note, I know that people hate other pop-culture references, but I was talking to my girlfriend (yes I actually am a nerd with a love life) about re-watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And as we talked I recalled how much I hated the final season because it re-introduced a 2nd season villain that appeared for one episode called the FIRST. The First literally could take the form of any dead person (or dead who's come back to life) at any time. There's this great moment in the show where the main characters all are in a chase to find recruits and fight a new breed of uber-vampires. During a meeting they're huddled in a circle and a suicide occurs in the bathroom, and they realize that one of the girls is actually the First the whole time who was convincing the girls to kill themselves while in the form of a young "potential" slayer who no one knew was dead and her body was hidden in a park or something. She was killed a few days before and the First took advantag! e of this.
The point being that they had in their group a girl who was posing in the vein of FLOCKE and was screwing up morale of the tiny army of teen girls trying to fight the new vampire threat and was seeing everything the whole time without the Scoobie gang (Buffy's groups nickname) knowing it. It was able to counter their plans because it literally could be anywhere in multiple forms. I just wanted to point that out that if Jacob and MIB have been playing hand of god the whole show, it would explain so much about the "miracles" and coincidences that happen. They are enlightened beings who aren't enslaved by time and space (God loves you as he loved Jacob). Maybe people on the list are "loved" the same way that Jacob and MIB are and that's why they are at the Temple.
Shoot me down or give thoughts, I really think this is worth arguing over and analyzing.
Peace!
