I know theres a theory floating around that smokie=BSG.
And now some people belive that that Christian has never really been alive, but just BSG in his form.
I kinda like this theory, but im un sure.
The main reason I dont think it was Blackie from the start, is because of two reasons.
1: He was supposed to be traped in the cabin(I just doubt he was freed BEFORE this show. I think his freedom happened somtime after 815 crashed)
2: Christian's BODY was GONE
Well, the metal box may have had somthing to do with it, but I look at it like this.
The smoke monster and Black Shirt are two seperate forces who are working together.
Smokie is able to possess things, while Black Shirt is only able to take their memories/forms.
Body missing/dead body on island=Smokie
Body not missing/not on island=Black Shirt.
So I think,
White Shoe Christian, Yemi and Alex where actually possessed by the smoke monster. Hence why their bodies went missing.
While Black Shirt Christian, and Ben's mother where Black Shirt.
The "mother" incident also makes sense. The reason richard asked if she had died on the island, is because he wanted to know who he was dealing with. Smokie, or BSG. Because he knows each has rules.
BSG simply scanned young ben's memories in order to appear as his mother.
The main reason I belive Black Shirt Christian and white shoe Christian are different beings is because of the s4 finale. We Saw white shoe christian sitting in the chair, and black shirt(in his normal form) appearing at the window.
I think the main reason we saw this scene is because it was ment to be the changing point, when Smokie stoped being Christian, and Black Shirt became Christian.
So, once Christian changed to that blackish shirt, it was BSG taking his form. Smokie had no more used for the body(his role was simply to bring it to BSG in the cabin), became smokie again and moved on.
The entire REASON Smokie became Christian in the first place was to free BSG from the cabin. Some think it was Locke, others Hurley. But what if the ash wasnt BROKEN until Smokie arrived in Christian's flesh and blood body.
It would explain why he needed a body. He could whipe away the ash using Christian's human form.
Then once BSG was free to manipulate the cabin, he simply took Christian's form(thus becoming dark shirt christian) in order to manipulate Locke the next time he came to the cabin.
I dont think it was BSG from day one, because he was, (As of the man behind the certain)traped in the cabin.
The reason Im pretty sure the cabin was UNABLE To move at this point, is because Ben still knew where to find it. Without any dreams or visions.("I used to have dreams, seems to imply he hasnt gotten any in a while). So I dont think the cabin started moving untill AFTER The man behind the certain.
Hurley may have sumbled in just after this event happened.
So yeah, the basic point of this post, is to just give my opinion. That Black Shirt wasnt ALWAYS Christian. I think Smokie took control of Christian after the crash and went to the cabin to free Black Shirt.
Then once Black Shirt was free, Smokie sat in the cabin, let Black Shirt take Christian's form, and disapeared.
The next time Locke came to the cabin. Black Shirt was ready with a new form(Different shirt) to start manipulating Locke. Christian's actualy body, was just abosrbed into smokie because smokie had no more use for it.
Atleast not untill he started appearing off island to Jack
(Yeah Im going to say that vison was smokie not blackie because of the suit/shoes. Its also possible Charlie visiting Hurley was smokie as well. He COULD have found Charlies body in the water)
