Ok folks, I try and read all the theories posted on here and have yet to see this, however if someone has already thought of this then my apologies!
Could Juliet be the new Desmond? We know what happened to him when he detonated the failsafe and was subject to the huge EM blast - he woke up naked in the jungle with a time travelling mind and the ability to foresee the future. Will the opening scene of season 6 be Juliet naked in the jungle?
Personally I beleive that she has detonated the bomb. I'm sure of it at the moment. We know the island had a purpose for her or she would never have survived that fall so I believe she detonated the bomb, which when coupled with the EM energy has in effect spawned the necessity for the Swan and the button.
I am not going to go into the whole "the bomb would have destroyed the island" debate because that has been discussed a thousand times and people have made up their own minds about it. Benji Potter said recently in another post that he thought the combination of the bomb and the EM energy caused an implosion rather than an explosion and I agree with this. I think it is perfectly reasonable to assume that a 50 year old bomb core, which had been leaking for a long time, would not have destroyed the island when detonated that far under ground.
Anyway let's say that juliet makes it out alive and season 6 opens with her naked in the jungle. Now we have to consider what the effects of the EM energy, coupled with the effects of the bomb, will have on Juliet? Will her time travelling and and future predcting abilities be multiplied by the bomb if so what exactly are we going to be able to see her do. I don't have any fully thought out answers to this yet and the possibilities are endless so I will leave this open to your suggestions.
Lastly I think that Juliet will die as a result of the blast but not directly because of the blast itself. I think that Juliet's fate is to be the Dreaded Nosebleed. We will see her skip around for a bit and maybe she somehow sends the Losties back to 2007, if this has not happened already, at which point she will die as she cannot contact her constant. So Juliet will make a second sacrifice for the losties, which will define her as the ultimate Lost heroine. Maybe a mutated, glowing green heroine due to the radiation but a heroine none the less! (please don't take that seriously!!)
As I said - this is not fully formed and a wee bit rough, however I'm sure that you will put me right and fill in any holes.
One last thing - this theory is not me leaning towards ALT even though I know that some may agree and say that Juliet will effect a change - this is not how I interperet this or meant it to be interpereted, however I also know I have no control over other people's interperetations so let's hear it!
