I cant shake that nagging feeling that the producers of Lost have planted something in the season five finale that may bear fruit in the final season and totally shock us.
The finale depicted Jacob touching our central Losties during various phases of their lives. What was the intent behind this? Had Jacob hand picked various individuals who may be able to take his place. Similar to Voldemort in Harry Potter, has Jacob placed his essence into various Losties as a means of existing should he be killed. Perhaps he had advance knowledge of what was going to happen to him somehow, and has placed the Losties in position as a means of counteracting Man No.2's latest action. If Jacob has done this, perhaps his death is the force that brings our Losties back to present time through the part of him that resides within them.
More importantly, will Jacob rise again and if so, which of our Losties will he inhabit on a permanent basis? Jack seems the natural choice to me, and will provide the perfect counteraction to Locke, who now is inhabited by Man No.2. Can you imagine the tension and drama as Jack and Locke finally go head to head. It would certainly make gripping stuff.
However what if Jacob is already inhabiting Jack? During the incident, Jack took a massive blow to the back of his head from what looked like a massive metal tool box and was knocked unconscious. Now that has gotta sting a lot!! When he came around, the visual was blurred and unsteady. Many viewers may have just assumed that this visual was to accentuate that Jack had suffered a severe concussion. But what if something else was going on here, something that the producers may flashback to in season six. What if Jack died as a result of that blow to the head, allowing Jacob or the essence of Jacob left within Jack, to seize control of his body.
I could, and more than likely will be, completely wrong. Maybe I am searching too closely for clues and clutching at straws. I just felt it was very odd to have the lead knocked out during the thick of the action. While all attention was turned to saving Juliet, what was going on with Jack? It's the kinda insane twist the producers of Lost would pull on us and is a classic play in TV drama. Distract the viewer with a big event like Juliet's death, while the real shocker goes unnoticed until they decide to pull the trigger on it later. Feel free to comment but be kind...
