Yea sorry, this is another theory about Aaron. I think maybe he has something to do with a back-up plan for Jacob. Jacob has known for a while that AJ wanted to kill him, don't you think he'd want to find a way to protect himself? While AJ was setting up his "loophole", maybe Jacob was setting up a plan just in case AJ was successful.
Maybe AJ got wind that a baby born on the island had something to do with a counterplan for Jacob so he caused the fertility issues. Remember the creepy way Ethan looked at a pregnant Claire? Maybe he was in awe because he knew how important her unborn child was.
It would appear that Christian Shepard is a minion of AJ, or is a version of AJ himself. Claire joined him and abandoned Aaron in the jungle, as we all know, to be found by Sawyer and eventually taken off the island and away from Jacob. Christian told Locke that Aaron was, "where he was supposed to be". Later, Claire appears to Kate in a dream and tells Kate not to take Aaron back to the island. Claire said to Locke, "I'm with him", meaning Christian. Maybe AJ used Christian as a tool to recruit Claire and to get her to abandon Aaron so he'd be taken away from the island.
AJ takes on the likeness of people who have died and touched the island, and maybe Jacob takes on the form of new life (ie Aaron) that touches the island.
