I started thinking about the Whispers and the Tunnels and if they could be connected somehow. We know the Others/Hostiles have quite a tunnel system underneath parts of the jungle and Dharmaville. We also know there are vents throughout the jungle that Smokey/Cerebus can seep out of. If Cerebus lives under the Temple, and the Temple is attached to the Tunnels, one must assume the vents are located in the Tunnels.
We also know that Ben told Danielle that if she ever heard whispers in the jungle, she must run away. This tells us the whispers come from the Others.
So....what if the whispers are a result of the Others walking throught the tunnels, discussing the Losties, and being overheard through the vents.
And what if the Others had a way to "pop out" of the Tunnels unseen - right into the middle of the jungle - that would explain how Harper just "appeared" to Juliet in the jungle and then "disappeared" just as quickly.
